There are multiple threads and posts with the same questions and this will NOT going to stop until Sony release a full official statement on this,
Yes, it might be Complex, yes it might be hard to answer but if Sony Developer were able to post a thread on how we get an update starting from the source code to the final product (just before approvals) I think this can be done, it'll be like a second part to From Source Code to upgrade release.
Also if you have another question feel free to post it and I'll add it to this top of this thread, try to make general questions not specific (i.e. when is my SI number will be approved/posted/etc, instead something like, who can we contact to find out if our carrier it's going to release or not the update?)
And Exmor R
When I bought my mini pro, got the box, and saw that little ICS robot and under it "Android 4.0 upgradable", my face was like this:
Sadly, it was just an illusion...
I agree we, users, need a lot more transparency and COMMITMENT from Sony.
Sony has the technology, expertise, innovation BUT Sony isn't taking FULL advantage of this
examples
we still have LCDs instead of OLEDs it will save space, battery and a lot more rich colors add that the bravia engine and it'll be amazing.
housing, other OMEs have being playing with different materials, HTC has an amazing housing, how about recycled carbon fiber
we are still stuck with lime glass instead of Gorilla Glass 2 or Dragon trail
battery keeps getting smaller and smaller yet the phones are growing hungrier
how about Carl Zeiss lenses, Sony had them before with the Cybershot series, lets bring them back with a bigger sensor and perhaps sony can get some of their photography department to help them so we don't get this over compressed sometimes white washed pictures
just hoping the Sony Mobile Devs read this thread and our posts.
Me to, because I have said alot
Well, here's a new line idea, based on that transparent bar of the NXT series:
This phone would really be epic.
I improved the desing.

They should use the transparent bar instead of the display for virtual buttons, this way, there is more room for content
that would be interesting although I prefer the Xperia Arc/Arc S/GX and the rumored Xperia Z/Mint design, w/o the transparent bar but w/ an awesome curve on the back, easier to send messages and hold
How about if Sony can work with google to release the next nexus implementing "Linaro"

If they could fuse both desings it would be nice
