There are multiple threads and posts with the same questions and this will NOT going to stop until Sony release a full official statement on this,
Yes, it might be Complex, yes it might be hard to answer but if Sony Developer were able to post a thread on how we get an update starting from the source code to the final product (just before approvals) I think this can be done, it'll be like a second part to From Source Code to upgrade release.
Also if you have another question feel free to post it and I'll add it to this top of this thread, try to make general questions not specific (i.e. when is my SI number will be approved/posted/etc, instead something like, who can we contact to find out if our carrier it's going to release or not the update?)
Side Notes:
From Source code release to software upgrade
Google I/O 2012 PDK, the idea is for OEMs to get this weeks/months before any new update, thus reducing the amount of time it will take them, OEMs, from source code release to software upgrade.

Jelly Bean? Sony agreed to 18months updates after the release day, will Sony keep this promise?

Why new 2012 Xperias with same or lower hardware espects as the 2011 Xperias can run ICS smooth w/o all the 2011 Xperia issues. Do we need more low end phones?

2010 Mid and Low end Xperias Fiasco
The REAL REASON why the X8, x10 mini/pro, w8 won't get an update (2.2 or 2.3)? will the 2011 Xperias have the same fate?

We are NOT ignorant
I think Aimee forgot that the android update alliance is to address fragmentation not just minor updates or patches

Re: Are we going to have the jeely bean update ?
Hi,
18 months of updates does not necessarily refer to Android version updates. This also includes performance enhancing updates on the Android version the handset is already running on.
Our developers will test the handsets on the new versions of Android which Google release and confirm whether the user experience is stable enough to provide an update.
Until we have confirmation regarding this, we would be unable to confirm which units will be able to run this version.
Just like she did before

As the hardware of the X8 handset does not meet Google's requirements for the higher Android OS versions, unfortunately it would not be possible for us to update this model.

you said that

Re: The real reason X8, x10 mini/pro, w8 won't get an update?
The official statement does mention the RAM but it also mentions the following reason:
The upgrade of XperiaTM X10 also was made possible due to that we had a code base that mostly could be reused. For the mini’s, who have a different user interface, this possibility did not exist.
I am only able to provide you with the same information I have been provided with myself.
BUT the fact is that Android doesn't have a minimum hardware requirement. I've been waiting for you or someone from Sony to reply to that thread and still no answer.
first of all
it is NOT a personal attack, I'm pointing out FACTS
second those aren't logical fallacies, neither Ad hominem, nor bandwagoning, nor non-sequitur, etc, those are facts.
how can it be a spam if?
1) if a sony moderator gives the same answer to a user asking about Jelly Bean, I should be able to post the same answer pointing out facts, since rules apply to ALL.
2) if the thread it's deleted then I agree that will stop sony moderators to post the same answer and myself of posting the same answer.

even i didn't get ICS.
i've have been waiting like 6 weeks for ics on my xmp, i'm tied up with the carrier o2 uk, and this afternoon finally decided to do it manually by flashing the generic ics firmware and selecting english uk in setup to ensure kept the qwerty keyboard, used flashtool worked a charm and even got rid of all those useless carrier apps that come preinstalled. I don't understand why sony don't allow you to do this using pc companion instead of having to wait for the carriers to give the go ahead, to be honest i think sony are just scape-goating the carriers for their own mistakes. The generic one works better anyway as it has less useless apps on install and gives more control on changing the keyboard and language settings.
great article but seems a bit bias, if OEM wouldn't customize so much Android updates will come faster as they only have to optimize a small update (i.e. 4.0.1 > 4.0.2 > 4.0.3 > 4.0.4) and offer the launchers, apps etc on the market.
