The hardware is great; the software (Android modified by Sony) is like Microsoft Windows...

My tip: iPhone

What a load of rubbish. The software is NOTHING LIKE windows.  Clearly an Apple fanboy trying to cause trouble!  Only get iphone if you can put up with a closed system and higher costs.  APPLE=EVIL.

Rubbish? LOL

Apple like evil???? Never had a Mac? Go buy one and use it for one year, than, stop use it and back to windows systems… give me a trace after that.

I’m not trying to create trouble by any means… is just my opinion and I’m trying to help people to experience Sony Android in a better way. My Sony U is very nice (like small phones that work flawlessly without to much app’s and functions junk) but have lot’s of bug’s. Read again:  LOT’S OF BUG’S.

One friend bought the S model (was intended to but thank god i only spend half of my money). It’s better phone, of course, but have lot’s of bug’s to.

In the pass occurred that my “person” was a Sony Fan Boy because they made nice products with quality and some degree of advanced technology (Hi-Fi EX line, Big Stereo Triniton TV, Phone’s: K750i, CMDJ15, etc…, Walkman’s, Mini-Disc, PlaySation, etc…) but lately tend to go around; the quality is not there and the product line (in some cases) are for the broad-spectrum consumer. It’s a road path that Sony choose to capture more clients but losses the other end… like Apple, selling lot’s of iType of sh…, it’s a option that have the positive and the negative side’s.

I could exaggerate when comparing Android versus Windows but Android need to take another step… since version 2.1 the system tend to be more heavy and slow to perform some tasks that need speed on the workflow. Sometimes when you make a call, put it on hold, make other, use the calendar to make a schedule and try to see the weather the system tend to be very, very, drop framing eye and snappier, like windows on a bad day (300 days a year)!!!!!!

Some people thing the most stupid (I’m not calling you, so take no offense) thing about OS X: The system is closed! Of course, it’s the only way to guarantee perfection in terms of stability and performance; but close in some points, you can install and make everything like other system and have a certain guarantee that the system work almost perfectly (there are no perfect systems).  Using Windows (W7 is fine but have a legacy that Microsoft tend to pass from system to system: to much mouse clicks to do something and lot’s of pain in registry, to name a few) is like pray to run smooth without crashes and lot’s of bugs…

If you want quality you need to pay for it or use some other system, and in that field, you need to be a very god technician or I may there to use the word “geek” to optimize it and run very smooth. Resuming: choose not to be a “geek” and live in harmony with your U phone, not the opposite.

When i buy a mobile phone, to connect to other people/services/etc… i need to use the functions that come with, flawlessly and wihout bug’s and other nonsenses, period. Sony, at the moment, don’t give me that experience and I’m totally revolted with that.

In the pass used the first generation o iPhone but after a fall to the ground (just died) i tend to use cheaper phone’s. I don’t expect U be a iPhone but need to work smooth without major problems like Bluetooth connections and sound quality, constant creepy noises when you start a music in the Walkman program or quality pictures from 2004 phones with 1 megapixel like…

By the way, do you know that the initial creator, Andy Rubin, worked for Apple, and said somewhere that he loved the system that Apple created. In the past Apple had nice hardware and software, this day’s is the software by all means, and when you buy the software (very higher cost in deed) you have a bonus: nice hardware to!

Think different!

p.s. – have some OS X machines and some debian’s in my home/work and love it, being old to, they simply work has programed to be

Next phone: iPhone 5S, for sure, and hope they change the format, the old one was much sweeter

if Sony will stop this UIX Xperias will be a lot faster with less bugs, I also work with OSX, win7/8 and linux, by far linux it's better Slightly_smiling_Face now regarding OSX and windows it's just preference and what you intend to do with the computer, if you want pretty simple graphics, email, basic stuff then a mac if you want to do some serious gaming and/or physics/math, etc use a windows or linux machine, I prefer to build my own machine and partition my HD into different OS

back to Xperias, you can't compare the Xperia U, Sola, Go, etc (mid and low end phones) with the iphone as the iphone is the flagship, now comparing flagships indeed the Xperia S have some flaws, but if Sony would STOP releasing 18phones per year each year and just have 4 phones, 1 low end, 1 mid end and 1 or 2 flagships and work hard on fixing bugs and implement all Sony's technology, it will take on Samsung and LG

I couldn’t be more in accord with you!!!!

Smiling_Face_with_open_mouth_&_closed_Eyes

OS X for music (my work and life) and the other stuff, to, it's a pleasure to work with no worries… Linux for numerous freeware stuff (osx tend to have but more quietly) and Win for games in bootcamp; all in the same machine using partitions, of course.

Sold my PS3... lot's of money for the games.

Back in Xperia field, yes… 3 model’s it’s enough.

Xperia U it’s a hell of a phone but Android, sometimes, it’s a pain… and have lot’s of you can do this without doing that, and you should use this feature, ie free from Google, but… bad implementations all around.

Don't like Samsung, it's a cheap copier

Winking_Face

p.s. – i hope Sony make me smile until the 5S emerge, i have a feeling they will create a good hybrid system free of bugs

Actually Murdock, I work with both Windows and Apple systems (the apple systems usingprotools installed in a recording studio). We are gradually replacing the Apple G4 systems with PC equivalents, as they cost half the amount for the same amount of power, and we're sick to death of constantly seeing the famed Apple "SPINNING BEACHBALL OF DEATH"!  Remember the old, old days when Apples didn't crash? That is waaay in the past!

In my opinion pls don't.

Antony is right, people tend to forget easy... me not!

From here, no Spinning for a long time... you refer G4 system, that’s long ago, back in 1999/2002. Are you using OS X on those types of machines?  My main Mac Pro Nehalem never had a crash in 3 years.

My G4 still working good with OS 9.2.2 and a Creamware Luna II system (now day's Sonic-Core), with a incredible low latency= 1,1 milliseconds

How about that? Maybe you are using a recent ProTools and the machine can handle... people tend to push to far new versions of operative systems in old machines.

I don’t like the current path that Apple is following but Microsoft isn’t the option right now, do you have a clue? Maybe am not using Apple for the next decade but for me to change unquestionably need the same degree of craftsmanship and no other brand are giving right now.

The costs are high, they could be more downside but the demand exists… the best desktop in the world, right now, for quality and ease of use is the iMac, you can talk every down word but the tests can prove it. We are talking about standard brands on the market not buying components and assembling by itself, that’s another story.

Enough about mac’s… i’m here for Xperia U.
