Screen Security not Working

Hi,

I have the sleep time set to 1 minute (Settings -> Display)

and my Screen Security settings as follows:

Screen lock = Password

Automatically lock = 5 seconds after sleep

Power button instantly locks = not checked

If i leave my tablet untouched, it goes to sleep (after 1 minute) but if I double press the screen anytime after that (eg. 10 minutes) it opens staight up to where it was left.

IT DOES NOT NEED PASSWORD or any other security to open,

Is there another setting I've missed, or is there a problem with the tablets security software ?

do you have any taskiller or antivirus?

No, nothing of that nature installed.

once the screen goes to sleep do you tap the screen and/or press the power button right away or after few seconds ? you might want to time it, as the screen will dim and then after few seconds it will be locked

It makes no difference whether I tap the screen or press the power button - both unlock without password.

I'm doing it many minutes after the screen goes to sleep (not seconds after). I can leave it an hour and it still comes awake without password.

that's quite odd, do you have another screenlock app?

Not that I'm aware.

I've had to reboot device, not prepared to leave it around without it locked.

It is now behaving correctly. Password requested following each sleep. That really doesn't help us does it ?

I'll monitor it's behaviour over the next few days. If it happens again I'll let you know, and see if there is any pattern to what i was doing with it immediately prior.

OK - it's happened again.

I'm not doing anything unusual. Mail, web browsing, sykpe & hangout messaging / conference.

I went to use it after putting it down for a while and found I didn't need password. I left it overnight in standby and again it didn't require password.

Reboot again now and password is being requested.

If the tablet cannot be trusted to invoke it's security lockout its no good to me.

Please advise whether I should return to shop under warranty ?

Do a back up then a full reset. I had one particular issue with Google search and there was nothing I could do solve it. The reset worked.

Give it a go before you return on warranty.

It sounds to me as if the tablet is not sleeping and there is an App keeping it awake. Do you use anything like Advance Task Killer before putting it to sleep?

Thanks af,

I've never done a backup / reset before. Is it painless - I've spent hours setting up my tab, will i have to go through all that again ? I don't have the time.

Besides, you and I are waiting on the answers to the Mic issue as well. If the tab has to go back to get that fixed I may as well hang on and kill two birds at once.

It's worrying that you have seen the screen security issue too - makes me think there is flaw in the system somewhere. May be I'm better off switching to Samsung.
