screen lock timeout

I have an Arc running Androis 2.3.4.

I have an issue with the screen lock and wonder if other have seen it.

i have anabled a pin passowrd. However, the Arc does not ask me for the pin everytime the screen timesout. i can simply unlock with the slide. Only after the phone sits blanl for a 15 or 20 minutes, it ask me for the pin.

I see no option to change or control the time between screen going out and when the pin is required.

any ideas?

go to

settings -> location & security -> Set up SCREEN lock (not sim card lock) -> PIN (not password)

now turn off your phone, take the battery out, w/o the battery press and hold the power button for 5 seconds -> put the battery back on -> turn on  your phone, is it working now

oh and btw there are apps that will prevend your phone to be Idle, which that could be the reason its not allowing you to lock your phone

I followed your process. The screen turns off and it prompts me to slide to unlock, but as before I do not get prompted for the pin.

Thanks. Is there a way to find which app may be causing this? Thanks.

if it comes to worse

  1. backup everything
  2. repair your phone with Update Service

2.

I have a question though. If the issue was related to apps not going idle, shouldnt that prevent screen from going off and prompting me to unlock it with the slide? Thanks.

Mcafee, you don't need it, as long as you download apps from the market you will be fine. this is an android phone not a PC or winmobile phone Dizzy_Face
