Yesterday the jelly bean update appeared on my Xperia S. Someone on this forum had said that Sony had pulled the update, looks like not!!. I have tried to find a way to remove it, but no luck. So people, is there any way of removeing or canceling it. No way i am going to update at the moment or ever. Thanks for any help
Forgot to say. I got this phone from Sony in February with ICS pre-installed and it works like a dream.
You mean that you want to remove the notification about the update?
Hi, Johan.
I would like to remove both if i can. With all the problems your consumers are having at moment, upgrading is not a good idea. If in the future Sony provide a usable and stable Jelly Bean update, then i might upgrade.Just a thought. Are the Xperia S being sold on your website with Jelly Bean preloaded, working without any problems??. Thanks for any help Nigel.
If you haven't come across any problems with ICS that was bundled with your phone, then I doubt your'll notice any of the problems with the Jelly Bean update.
Just ignore the notification of the update, and do not listen to skip0pot2mus. The update is guaranteed to screw up your phone. ICS also worked with no issues on my Xperia S, but after I updated to JB, the video camera is lagging and frame rate is halved. Just read through the posts on this forum.
I beleive that this method on XDA will root your phone even if your bootloader is locked http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=188646
Next if it worked is to download the free version of Titanium backup from the play store and open it up then choose Backup/Restore and look for Update Centre and touch that app then choose if available Feeze which will stop the update notification from popping up by disabling the app not uninstalling or you may have to Un-install which speaks for itself
I beg to differ emirbud, the JB release has less bugs than ICS, and so stand by my original statement that the OP wouldn't notice the JB bugs because, as they said:
"I got this phone from Sony in February with ICS pre-installed and it works like a dream"
If they think that about ICS, then JB will be the same.
I was very happy with ICS, but Jelly Bean update has introduced two major bugs for me. Firstly, any widgets from paid apps on my home screen disappear after a reboot and I have to add them again each time (a major PIA for me). Secondly, HD video capture lags badly.
Neither of these things happened with ICS.
You are quite right up to a point. The fact remains that JB upgrade introduced a major bug in video camera, and for me that's a huge problem. Otherwise, my phone works just fine, but I had no issues with ICS. Therefore, I regret my decision to upgrade.
