Proximity sensor not working

Bought a new xperia u..upgraded it to ICS. Just realised that proximity sensor is not working. did the service test..which creates buzzing noise while keeping fingers on the sensor and shows that its on. But while on calls it doesn't work. Need a resolution for the said problem

If you are on call, And the phone is on speaker lying around on something horizontal,

and you try the sensor with finger it might not work,

I think it works when phone isn't completely horizontal.

And if its not working somewhere near ear, Try bringing phone a little more close to ear.
