I've been using Bridge for Mac for a while without any problems, but since it downloaded the 3.7 update it won't recognize my phone. When I connect, it thinks for a few seconds, then says it cannot connect. I've tried deleting and redownloading the app, and deleting any relevant system files I can find. If I connect it in Windows with the same cable and through the same USB port, PC Companion recognizes it no problem. Any idea what's going on here?
David - I am sorry, but what kind of answer is that ????
"Hi z2jois,
I'm sorry to hear that Bridge isn't working for you. Which version of Bridge do you have?
Best Regards,
David"
Is this forum supposed to help or not ???
At least 10 users have reported the same problem and the SUBJECT of this forum is "Problems with Bridge for Mac 3.7", and you have said (more than 3 weeks ago) that Sony was working to fix the software.
ANY NEWS ??? IS THERE ANY HOPE FOR MAC USERS WHO BOUGHT SONY EXPERIA AND WANT TO UPDATE AND MANAGE MUSIC AND PHOTOS ? OR SHOULD WE JUST RETURN THE SMARTPHONES AND GET A SAMSUING ???
Sorry, for my frustration. Your answer is simply unacceptable at this point in time.
Hi lessamarcos,
The reason I asked is because a new update was released just after z2jois wrote, which should solve the problems that have been mentioned in this thread. Thus, if he didn't have the latest version there's no use in gathering more information before he tried updating.
Do you still have problems with Bridge 3.7.1 (3710)?
Best Regards,
David
I am experiencing still problems with 3.7.1
When I open the app, it's starts accessing my hard drive big time. It's a bit less than 3.7, but still.
When I connect my mobile (Tipo) responds by saying that it doesn't recognize.
With 3.7 I would get the spinning ball, extremely slowing down of my computer and I had to force quit the app.
Now it responds immediately, but still no connection, and still a lot of hard disk access. But no more spinning ball and I can just quit.
Sony is heading in the right direction but still not there.
I hope this problem is resolved soon.
All the best

(Running on 10.7.5 / Mac Pro 3GHz Quad-Core Xeon)
ps. Trashing cache and preferences didn't resolve the issue. Returning back to 3.5 did. (I don't have 3.6)
Hi Pony_Slaystation,
Would it be possible for you to send me error logs before you revert back to 3.5? I haven't heard of connections problems with Tipo before, so would like to investigate it so we can fix it in the upcoming release.
Here’s how to get error logs from Sony Bridge for Mac:
1. In BfM, hold the "alt" key down while selecting the "Phone" menu. Select "Clear logs" to remove all old logs and get a clean start
2. Reproduce the problem you're having, whether it's connecting the phone, importing photos, doing backup...
3. In BfM, hold the "alt" key down while selecting the "Phone" menu. Select "Export logs"
4. On the computers desktop there should now be a file named "SonyBridgeForMacLogs_[date].zip
5. PM that file to me or post the contents here
Best Regards,
David
David,
Tried version 3.7.1 but still having problem. Now the software starts and runs OK (does not hang), however when you try to update the phone it stays "initializing" for quite some time, than an error message shows up saying "the update failed" or something like that.....
Just tried to update the phone again. The exact error message is: "update failed. there was an issue with the update engine. Pleas contact technical support. (reason: timed out waiting for engine to start".
Hi Lessamarcos,
Could you please send me error logs? That would help us determine the root of your problems. The update engine can cause problems sometimes, but for different reasons so it's necessary to check the logs.

I tried BfM 3.7.1 and its still no good. Will not connect to my Sony Xperia U at all. This is simply no good. I cannot connect my phone to my computer to do anything useful with it. This has been going on for over a month now. I have to conclude that Sony are not interested in supporting their phones on Macs. I may as well buy a used iPhone and run that. At least then the software is always up to date and very well supported.
Is 3.7.1 good for anyone?? And no, i will not be uploading any more logs. If Sony dont have some phones lying around to try new software on then i despair!!

Hi mcilwr01,
I'm apologize for the late answer.
The problem is that we aren't always able to reproduce problems that users are reporting, as it can be caused by numerous different factors, so logs are the only way we can know exactly what's causing a user's problem.
I understand your frustration, and a new version of Bridge is being worked on to fix connection problems. Without logs, I'm afraid there's not a lot more I can do for you at the moment.
I apologize that you are unable to use Bridge as intended.
Best Regards,
David
