Problems with Bridge for Mac 3.7

I've been using Bridge for Mac for a while without any problems, but since it downloaded the 3.7 update it won't recognize my phone. When I connect, it thinks for a few seconds, then says it cannot connect. I've tried deleting and redownloading the app, and deleting any relevant system files I can find. If I connect it in Windows with the same cable and through the same USB port, PC Companion recognizes it no problem. Any idea what's going on here?

Hi Beachmat,

Do you get any errors, or does it just not recognize that a phone is plugged in?

What OSX version are you running and what phone model do you have?

Best Regards,

David

Yes me too!! Bridge for Mac 3.7 is a DISASTER! Was this tested at all?? I was using version 3.6 before which was OK, i could connect my Xperia and move photos etc, but it would not back up properly. So 3.6 was flawed, but version 3.7 is awful. It does not even connect to the phone. Or it crashes straight away. Spinning beachball of death (SBBOD).

I have tried deleting it and re-installing several times. Have tried deleting all prefs. files etc. No good. Have tried re-starting phone etc. Nope.

Bridge for Mac 3.7 is dead on arrival!

I am using Mac OS X 10.9.2 on a Macbook Pro.

Please can you fix this? My experience of Bridge for mac has been very poor, but this is the worst yet!!

Hi mcilwr01,

I'm sorry Bridge isn't working for you, and I understand you're upset.

Could you please send me error logs that I can forward to the development crew? Otherwise it's near impossible to tell what's causing your problems.

Here’s how to get error logs from Sony Bridge for Mac:
1. In BfM, hold the "alt" key down while selecting the "Phone" menu. Select "Clear logs" to remove all old logs and get a clean start
2. Reproduce the problem you're having, whether it's connecting the phone, importing photos, doing backup...
3. In BfM, hold the "alt" key down while selecting the "Phone" menu. Select "Export logs"
4. On the computers desktop there should now be a file named "SonyBridgeForMacLogs_[date].zip
5. PM that file to me or post the contents here

We are working on solving the problems of 3.7 as fast as possible, I apologize for not having a solution for you right now.

Best Regards,

David

Hi David,

2 problems with sending you the logs. 1. BfM will not even open properly. On startup i get the spinning beachball! So it never starts properly so i cannot select any menus. 2. You say select the "phone" menu. There isnt one. Screen shot attached. There is no phone menu on mac. I am using a Sony Xperia U, running Android 4.0.4. And mac OS X 10.9.2 on MacBook Pro. Both computer and phome work perfectly. The problem is BfM 3.7.

Hi Guys, I searched the web for "sony bridge for mac" and found version 3.5 still available. Replaced version 3.7 and everything works great again, even on latest 10.9.2 mac system.

Please stick to old versions of BfM 3.5 or 3.6.

Avoid 3.7 at all costs!!

Please take not Sony!!

Hi mcilwr01,

Thank you for the feedback, we are working on solving the problems with 3.7 at the moment. The problem with older versions of Bridge is that they might not recognize the newest phone models.

Best Regards,

David

Hi experiamac,

Can you see if you can get error logs for me? (see my response above for how to extract error logs).

Which phone model do you have and which build version?

I'm not sure about the contacts, where did you store them?

Best Regards,

David
