You may need to contact the developer and forward this as it could be an app issue ie: compatibility
I thought it wasn't because I have a friend who bought the same phone at the same time and who doesn't have this problem. We have the same version of every thing.
If it is a application problem my friend should have the same issue no?

Try clearing cache fro the app:
- Go to Settings -> Apps -> Messenger -> Force stop, Clear data and restart your phone.
Can be a glitch in software that may be solved by a software repair, but it will wipe everything from your phone so you'll need to back up your data first. If it's a big issue for you and you want it fixed and you can take the effort to back up and go through the repair process then find how to do it below:
Open PC Companion -> Support zone -> Phone/tablet software update -> Repair my phone/tablet (blue link style). Follow the steps given, do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable.
Software repair is totally different that factory reset, it includes a complete wipe of internal memory. Generally it yields better results than factory reset.
