I connected my xperia p via pc companion and it showed me the ics update. Then while updating it asked me to remove the phone switch. Off the phone and connect while holding the volume down button. Once I do that nothing happens.
I tried via www.snowmobile.com/updates it did some checks and said the update is available and only through pc companion and gives a link for pc companion again.
Any idea how to overcome and install the update?
If I check the updates from the phone it says phone software is up-to-date.
Please let me know any alternatives.
Thanks
Try the same procedure again through PCC.. make sure to take off the hold from volume down button once you connect the USB (it will ask you anywys) and keep an eye on PCC showing the progress.. still not working, contact the service centre
try updating using update service/ SUS
I think you are refering to this
http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/update-service/
Trying it now...

Finally was able to update to ics. The only thing I did was, i tried to do the upgrade from a windows XP machine insted of the windows 7 pc's which I was trying since morning.
Something to do with windows7. Once when i tried calling the xperia support center one executive asked me to install a java update from for win7. But that dint help and faced the same problem.
Thanks for all those who helped.
Good for you, still no ics here.
