Pin code not accepted

I had some problem with my brand new Xperia Z3. Thought I'd just reboot the phone, that should fix the problem. After reboot, Xperia asks for PIN code as normally. Only problem is, that it does not accetp the pin code that I know for sure is the right one! I don't know what else to do but re-enter the right pin code hoping that the phone would suddenly realize that it is the right pin. That did not happen. Instead, the phone decided to reset to factory defaults. Now I need to set up everything again, including installing 10+ applications that I've just installed.

After resetting to factory defaults, the pin code is accepted again. Then the question is: seems like the phone had somehow gotten the idea that pin code had been changed. Could this be the reason or what? I'd really like to make 100% sure that this incorrect PIN hassle does not happen again!

Is it the lock screen PIN or some other PIN from an antivirus or other 3rd party app?

Yes indeed! I also finally realized that the "PIN" the phone was asking for was not the SIM card PIN, but the lock code PIN! So, my mistake.

It would be clearer to call the lock code as "lock code" rather than "PIN", I would say...
