Hi Guys,
I need an urgent assistance. My Xperia Z fell into a pail of water but i removed in within seconds. All the covers were confirmed close.
Once I got it off, the phone was working for few minutes but soon after it went dead and I could not restart the phone. I tried to dry the phone and charged it. after about 8 hours the phone came to life but the Home Button was completely not working. Other then that the phone was ok although a little sluggish.
I was using the phone for the last 5 days or so. Today I connected the phone via the USB to my laptop. After awhile the phone kept vibrating and went dead again. I tried to restart to no avail. Everytime I pressed on the volume buttons it was vibrating. I put it to a wall charger, the red light blinks but the phone keeps vibrating.
I am unable to restart it at all. I really hope one of you can assist with my problem.
Kind regards
Venot
I find that leaving it over-night is the best thing to do especially if you live in a cold climate, its going to take longer for the moisture to be drawn out.
Let us know how you go
Make sure those flaps are open ~ lol
there is obviously still water in there, the rice might help but the big problem is getting airflow into a very tightly sealed casing - if it was me I'd set it up with a hairdryer on low heat setting really close to an open port on the side (probably the sim slot with drawer removed) and let the warm air flow through it for a lengthy period, another option if you don't want to do that or don't have a hair dryer would be to use a vacuum cleaner again very close (touching) the sim port and let it suck air through the phone - same effect as blowing - actually I think the vacuum cleaner is the better option
The problem with this phone is that you cannot take the covers off readily to dry it out
The easy way to check if water got into the phone (as there are only so many places it could have got in) is to open the tabs and you will see a small white square under each tab. if one of them has turned red or pink then this is where the water got in. if none of them have been set off you will likely find it is not water that has caused this.

Hi Entelexia
No improvement whatsoever, it was in the container of rice for about 7 hours. Still can't power on the phone
Tried charging, kept vibrating throughout. After a long charge still does not switch on. I am lost now
Thanks and regards

@venothan what about Sam suggestion to check the white rectangles?

Hi Sam,
The white square had turned pink at the tab covering the headset port on the to right of the phone. The white square on the charging tab and memory card tabs are still white. There is no white square or any square at the sim card tab.
Does that mean anything? Which part of the phone may have got damaged? Is this how Sony determines the warranty validity too?
Thanks a lot
Kind regards

Guys
What I cannot understand is, the phone got soaked and did not work for abour 7 hours afterwhich it was working fine, except the home button which was completely non functional. I was charging the phone daily using the desk charger as well
It is only when I connected the phone via USB to my laptop when it suddenly started vibrating and the whole phone went dead? This really baffles me.

the SIM card flap does have a white square but it's hard to see, remove the sim card and you'll see it. if the 3.5mm jack flap square is pink then there's water damage as perhaps the flap wasn't closed all the way
