Hi Guys,
I need an urgent assistance. My Xperia Z fell into a pail of water but i removed in within seconds. All the covers were confirmed close.
Once I got it off, the phone was working for few minutes but soon after it went dead and I could not restart the phone. I tried to dry the phone and charged it. after about 8 hours the phone came to life but the Home Button was completely not working. Other then that the phone was ok although a little sluggish.
I was using the phone for the last 5 days or so. Today I connected the phone via the USB to my laptop. After awhile the phone kept vibrating and went dead again. I tried to restart to no avail. Everytime I pressed on the volume buttons it was vibrating. I put it to a wall charger, the red light blinks but the phone keeps vibrating.
I am unable to restart it at all. I really hope one of you can assist with my problem.
Kind regards
Venot
try this
1st connect your phone to the wall charger > press and hold power & volume up for 8 secs > let it charge for an hour then repair it with SUS
repair your phone with SUS

if that doesn't work then you have to take it to a Sony repair center

Hi,
Thanks so much for responding so promptly.
Actually I have done that earlier and the phone was charging more then 2 hours. It kept vibrating as it was charging. I have now repeated the step, I pressed the home button and volume up button, phone was vibrating as I did so. Phone did not power on, I have connected it to a wall charger and left it to charge. It is still vibrating
I can only use the SUS, when the phone is powered up right? It is an exe file, which I suppose I got to access the link via the phone browser, am I right on this?
By the way the home button has not been working for the last few days since it fell into the water?
I will keep you posted on the progress and thanks again.
Best regards

anytime, let us know how it goes
how did it fall into a bucket of water - I'd like to hear the story
Anyway it doesn't sound good tbh - sounds like some water got inside, hopefully it was a damaged speaker or poorly assembled device, the service center should be able to tell you this as there are water detectors behind the flaps/tabs so if one of them was accidently open they can tell
hope it works out
if you really want to try something to dry it out - open all the flaps - remove sim and sd cards and flow warm air on the phone for for a good length of time and see if you can dry it out - water is difficult to remove from such enclosed spaces but not impossible but it needs an air flow going in one side and out the other, ideally you'd want to dismantle it but I guess that's not an option on a new device
If you haven't already tried, use a container of rice to draw the moisture out of the phone. Like geoffh suggested, open all the flaps and put in an container of just plain white rice and leave it submerged for a few hours. The remaining moisture should be drawn out from any of the little hiding places in the phone. I've saved many of my little brothers phones by doing this (He loves to go swimming without checking his pockets)
Hi Uliwooly,
I tried doing exactly that. I left it to charge for almost 4 hours. It kept vibrating throughout. After that I tried to start the phone pressing the home button and volume up key, the phone could not start.
Now I am getting so nervous as it seems I have not much choices left. Thanks so much for your kind assistance

Hi GeoffH,
The answer to how it got into the water is pretty embarassing, I was showing off to my niece and telling her the phone is waterresistant, she borrowed the phone to have a look at it and just put it straight into a pail of water. I got the phone out within 30 seconds I guess. It was just a shallow pail really.
Well now I am stuck with this problem.
The thing is this incident happened about 6 days ago, the very day within 7-8 hours the phone was working fine, except the home button was malfunctioning. I have been using the phone for the last 7 days without problems.
It was only yesterday that I decided to connect the phone via USB to my laptop that this strange thing happened. Suddenly the phone powered off by itself and started vibrating. So I am uncertain if it is the effect of the water or something else?
Thanks for your kind assistance.

Dear Entelexia,
As I am typing this now, my phone is resting in a container of rive, it has been there for about an hour now. Probably leave it for another 3-4 hours and see what happens.
Will update you though. Thanks for your kind assistance.
