Hello,
Last weeks i am experimenting some GPS problems.
I use Google Maps to drive and the accuracy of my position is not good, It jumps to another street or it continues ahead street when i turned some direction.
In addition, I am trying to play Pokemon Go, but it gets gps signal during a second and then it lost.
How can i test if my GPS works correctly?
My wife have the same mobile and she doesn't have this problems.
Regards
Hi @cesardevop,
To be able to communicate with GPS satellites your device needs a clear sight towards the sky. If you're indoors, in a forest or surrounded by tall buildings, it may be difficult for your phone to connect to enough satellites to be able to calculate your position.
To be able to find your position quickly, your phone needs access to the internet.
If you're having some troubles with your GPS I'd suggest you try the following:
- Open your phonepad and enter: *#*#7378423#*#*
- Choose Service tests > GPS > Purge assistance data
- Reboot your phone and test the GPS
You can test if the GPS in your phone works under Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Test > GPS.
Hi @Didri,
I drive outdoors and i test it inside and outside cities with 3G enabled. Moreover, my other D2203 phone works correctly in this situations.
I purged assistance data and now i am trying to test GPS.
I have no option to test it under Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Test > GPS (camera, battery... but not GPS)
Inside *#*#7378423#*#* i have an option GPS Lotation Test, but it never finish the test (i wait several minutes).
Yesterday, i reset my phone to manufacturer version to test if i have some bad configuration in my mobile, but it don't solve the problem.

@cesardevop, I see. In that case I'd recommend that you perform a software repair using Xperia Companion. Make sure that you start with making a backup using Xperia Companion since the software repair will reset the phone.
Hi,
Yesterday i followed this linq to "perform a factory data reset":
http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/xperiam2/userguide/Resetting-your-device/
Are there diferences between this method and the repair method with Xperia Companion?
Regards
A factory reset is similar to a software repair since both methods will reset the phone. A factory reset however will only delete downloaded data in the phone, a software repair will also repair/update the software in the phone at the same time.
Was there any change after a reset and/or software repair?
Thanks for the update @cesardevop,
Does the same error appear if you try Xperia Companion instead of PC Companion? If so I'd recommend that you start by making sure that your Firewall/Antivirus has allowed Xperia Companion access to the internet followed by rebooting your computer. Please also try the repair using another USB-port, does the same message appear then as well?
Finally i re-install Pc Companion and i reset the phone.
In contrast, the problems with gps continue. It accuracy is worst than the other phone of the same model i have.
It jumps streets and has bad signal.
The GPS test give results, but it elapsed between 20 and 60 seconds (too much in my opinion)
Regards
Hi again @cesardevop,
If the test gives results that show your location then it seems like the GPS is working and there does not seem to be any errors with it. I tested in a device I have here and the test took about 20 seconds for me as well.
There is unfortunately not much more that can be tested other than what's previously been suggested, if you suspect something is wrong with your device my next recommendation would be to have your device sent to and examined by an authorized service centre. For information on how to send in your device I suggest you contact your Local support.
