This error showed up when I was trying to upgrade the system for z3c. I tried installing the engine manually (Sony_Mobile_Update_Engine_Setup-2.15.2.201501291105.exe) but also failed. The error message said "Access control error (inherit): Invalid filesystem path missing".
Any idea on how to fix this? Don't want to miss the upcoming Lollipop.
You need to uninstall Pc Companion and then re-install it as there appears to be an issue with the installation and it looks like files needed can't be found in the program path ie: C Drive then program files etc
I have already tried reinstalling but it didn't work. Maybe I wasn't thorough enough?
Uninstall again and use a program like Ccleaner to clean the registry of any redundant registry left behind then reboot and re-install it and test
Thanks for the advice but the same error still came up. Borrowed a friend's laptop and updated successfully. Wonder what's wrong with mine though...
Hi,
I have got the same problem. I did a PC Compagnion reinstall and the ccleaner registry cleanup incl. reboot. The Problem persists. Any suggestions?
Thx
Thanks a lot Sony, for taking me back to the bad old Nokia brick days. Update only via PC, REALLY? Wouldn't be that bad if it actually worked, getting same issue as described above, tried reinstalling, no joy. Why not just offer OTA like all other brands...
Looks like it is trying to create files in a path that doesn't exist.
"Profiles\..."
Still haven't figured out where that is so I can ensure the folders are there.
I tried another PC which didn't work either but instead of the above error it said cannot connect to server, tried a few times with no luck, same error. Right now it's downloading the udpate on that second pc. No idea why it would work on one and not the other, both windows 7 (first one home, second pro), with same firewalls, settings etc. OTA would have been so much easier, and strangely enough a friend who has the z3 compact on the same network was able to do it via OTA. What gives sony
