I bought my new Sony Xperia Z2 in Bulgaria on the 27-th May. I tested the camera in 4K video and normal mode. I noticed that the phone is getting hot after making some photos and video. When I recorded a 4K video the camera switched off after only 2 minutes with massege Overheating! I saw that many others had the same problem. My question is is there a chance to fix the problem. Can I return the phone and change it with another one?
Hi, i'm sure there was a software update that helped a bit but depends where you live/network carrier you are on for when you get it.....as you have probably read, there are people who get 2 minutes and people who get upwards of 5 minutes.....
Thanks :smileysmileywink:
Same problem here with my Z2,
Yesterday I was to a zoo with my kids and I wanted to make some photos, not even a video, but after every 3 or 4 photos I was getting the known message and the camera was turned off. Not a good reputation voor sony. I've also noticed that the phone is getting hot whenever I make a phone call. At th ebginning it was very terrible and the battery was going from 100% to 10% almost in 5-6 hours time even I did not make any use of the phone. I had to reset the phone and set everything again. The battery is OK now, but the heating problem is not gone. As far as I can see there comes no solution from Sony yet, then I'm afraid that I have to return my phone back to Sony. Once I had such a problem with a HP laptop: it was an engineering problem and it was known by HP, but they did not do anything about it. Since then I don't use any HP products.
Take your device to service. It must be repaired or exchanged. It seems some devices have overheating problems, but not majority of them. I don't have any problems with taking photos, my Z2 gets warm but not hot.

srv1...how long of a recording can you do in 4K video for with your device?
can you tell us what build it is (it's on the tab that you pull out on the top-right of the phone, where the microSD is, start with 14W)?
also, what Biuld number software it is (in About phone)?
thx

Whichever phone you use, the result will be the same - maximum 5 mins of 4K video recording. Try to push longer, you'll end up with a burnt CPU.
You know what? I can live with the current limitation of 4K recording on smartphones, as it seems to affect all of them. But **bleep** if I accept not being able to take snapshots for more than 30 seconds. This function should be unlimited. As should video recording in 'regular' HD mode.
