One suggestion for Xperia U ICS 6.1.1.B.1.10: Power Menu

Frist, thanks for ICS Sony. I think overall is a little better.

So, of course there are some changes, and one in specifically i dislike. This is a screenshot that i got using Power + Volume down. The language is portuguese.

The questions is:

1) Why there are 3 controls to sound? Its too much.

2) Where is the old shortcuts to take a screenshot and to camera? I miss them a lot.

3) Why not add a Restart button too?

I think this power menu can be improved a lot.

Thanks,

Sorry but its not simple. Simple is when the option appears in the screen. Hard is when the command is only in the manual and a new user never will know. If you paid attention, i know how to take a screenshot. Im saying exactly how hard it is for other users.

That is the suggestion. There are useless commands in the screen, and others more importants doesnt.

are you aware of widgets? widgets will make your life easier, long pressing the power button it's not the best way to go with features that are used quite often like volume control, a widget it's far a better option. also there are myriad apps on the market that will give you wifi, volume, bluetooth etc control on the menu bar.

Thanks again uliwooly for answer.

There is no widgets for screenshots and restart.

The widgets for restart are fake or requires root acess. Look these examples:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.greatbytes.fastreboot&feature=search_result

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.siriusapplications.quickboot&feature=search_result

There is no widget for screenshots for everywhere.

Listen, i have a lot of friends with android phones and almost none knows how to take a screenshot. however, im a Xperia U member(http://www.orkut.com.br/Main#Community?cmm=121514071) in the biggest Xperia U community in Orkut and everyone knows how to take a screenshot because in gingerbread, the option was in power menu and in ICS it doesnt. Do you understand now? There is a huge difference between an hidden command and an option very easy to find.

Furthermore, you can need to restart or take screenshot in everywhere, and a widget never can solve this. Maybe a camera button isnt need, but screenshot and restart is realy need.

This is a suggestion for devs. Ty,

indeed there isn't a widget to take screenshot I was refering to the other featurs that you listed above. if the user had an iphone or know someone with an iphone that user will know that to take a screenshot you press power and home button, with Xperias is Power and volume down, I don't see the problem. back on the 2010 Xperias most xperia users, Included me, wanted this 2 options restart and screenshot, with the 2011 Xperias we got screenshots BUT it was with the power button which is not as useful as just pressing two keys and done instead of long pressing the power button > tap on screenshot > wait for the screenshot

Ok, I understand now. The commands are really better than the option in screen, and the options on screen will never be so good as commands are, But...

It doesnt mean that users doesnt wanna they in options, or doesnt wanna they like commands too.

They both are good for especific situations and mainly, for different users.

I use a market app called hide it pro for volume control, with that you can hide files, and the external part of that app acts like an audio manager with real volume control..hehe

Indeed. If this is the new ICS, Sony developers "missed understand" a simple context about Human-Machine Interaction. It's definitly hard to click both power button and lower/upper volume (don't know exactly witch one it is xD)... You need at least both hands to do this (if you wanna try it with one, good luck, but don't let the phone flee from your hands Dizzy_Face ). and how should User's know this feature? It's not intuitive (at least for me). Like 3 buttons to do the same think (control ring sound). It's way to much xD

The way it is on GB it's good and it's a wonderfull feature that I don't see on other devices (the way it is presented to user).

Like SamBR said, This is just a suggestion as a user that would like this device improve in our lives 😃
