Hi,
I have sony xperia V with android jelly bean v4.1.2.
I made my laptop as wifi hotspot using 3rd apps such as: MyPublicWifi, virtual router plus, mhotspot, etc.
The shared internet connection is 3G broadband usb modem attached on the laptop.
I want to share the 3G broaband connection to my xperia V. However it failed to connect to the virtual WiFi SSID. It kept showing "Obtaining IP address..." status. Note that I put the password correctly and I use DHCP setting.
The other phone I used to have - huawei U8860 with android gingerbread - can connect to the virtual WiFi without problem.
I wonder if this is a bug in xperia V hardware or the android jelly bean OS ?
I have also faced the problem as you described, on the windows 8.1 Laptop, configured as wifi hotspot.
Initially xperia V used to connect to the windows 8.1 hot spot within no time. But now it takes time to conenct to the hostspot and it says obtaining IP address.
As a workaroung I need to switch on the wifi on the phone and keep it ideal for couple of second and switch on the hot spot in the laptop. If this do not work, I need to disable and enable the wi-fi.
Where as at the same time all other euipment (another lapto, TV, PS3) connects to hotspot without any problem on the windows 8.1 hotspot.
The samsung galaxy , also unabel to connect.
Where as the xperia V connects to wifi in the office within no time.
However I trying to find teh fix on this , once I have will post here.
Hence I do not think this could be problem with the phone somthing nees to be done to hotspot.
Regards,
Sanjeev
