Notification icon missing from status bar after Z3 Lollipop upgrade

Hi All,
I have a Z3 handset that was upgraded to 5.0.2. It seems that notifications, for Whatsapp, Messaging and etc appear on the lock screen now as bars. That's fine. But I preferred seeing the Whatsapp, Messaging or Facebook messenger icons in the status bar on the lock screen, whenever a new message appeared under Android 4.4.x. Is there anyway to turn this feature on? I've tried to search for it under notification settings and wasn't able to find it. Or is this no longer a feature of lollipop?

This is lollipop,you now have this kind of notification that you can swipe away or double tap to open.
