Hi.
My notification bar just stopped working.
It began flashing half way down the screen at first which I couldn't stop even with the power button.
I resorted to the Upsound/powerbutton to force power off.
After powering on again the notification screen is inactive. It shows incoming mail etc but will not swipe down for access.
I'm on a Z1 C6903 with Android 4.4.4
Really appreciate any help folk
Regards

Is your touch screen working in that area? If it is then consider a system repair - See below for details or you could try a factory reset and if the issue remains then you need to either return your device to the place of purchase or contact Xperia care http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/
Performing a system repair using Pc Companion - This will factory reset your phone
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP
Thanks Tommo.
I noticed this morning that the top row of icons are not accessible either.
Does this make a difference?

I don't know if this will help but would by chance one of the icons be an OUTLOOK.COM icon?
I have had two or three different occasions where for some unknown reason outlook.com stays in "sync" mode continually. This has on one occasion played funny buggers with my notifications screen.
Solution was to uninstall the app then reinstall app from GooglePlay and go through the setup process for the email accounts that I have attached to the server at outlook.com.
Couldn't fix it because i discovered a hairline crack right accross the screen.
Baby is on it's way to the hospital for a transplant.
Thanks for the help guys

Thanks Tommo but it wsn't working in that area and it was starting apps
when I powered it up without me touching anything.
So I spoke to Sony support who booked it in for a screen replacement, hence
it's on it's way via Auspost to Sydney for the transplant now.
Thanks again for your interest and advice
Happy New Year
