New Android update - slow

I had done the software update on my Sony Xperia Arc LT15a - build 4.1.B.0.587 and I find that the phone is terribly slow.  Is anyone else having this issue?  I expected some slowdown as they did warn about this but it is getting to be too much.  Are there things that can be done to help speed it up?

At first, the update looked cool and I thought that any slowness was due to the fact that I was using the different features for the first time under the new software but after about the month and a half, it is still really slow to the point that it is frustrating so I don't think that this applies.

Among some of the issues that i am having are:

- a severe delay in launching applications like the camera

- delay in the keys when texting

- some 3rd party games now experience a delay when they did not before (which may be an issue with them)

- I used to be able to add up to 4 picture frame per screen but now I can only add 1 - the picture frame is too large and cannot be resized

- my video camera is not as sharp as under the previous software.

Can anyone help?

There are some technical differences between GB and ICS and it is normal to experience some slowness or lagging with this model on ICS, you can read full info regarding this here  - http://developer.sonymobile.com/wp/2012/03/30/learn-about-the-technical-differences-between-gingerbr...

However, I'd recommend performing a factory data reset after installing the update and also ensure all apps you have installed are fully updated which should help with the performance.

It is a little bit slow not "terribly", here.

PS: Oh, you have an ARC....:smileyminus:

I did all the items that you suggested but I find the phone still slow.  For example, when I click on the camera icon for the first time, it takes anywhere from 6.7sec to 7.2 sec to get to the point where I have the button on the screen and can take a picture.  It is faster (2.4 sec) if I try again shortly after. Lengthy periods between camera uses produce roughly the same long delay (tried with different delays and got the range of 6.7 to 7.2 over 6 tries).

Is there a way to downgrade the software to what I had it at before?  I would prefer the better performace than the better looks.
