MP4 (.mp4, .m4a) audio playback support

Official white paper (Xperia™ S) says that Sony Xperia S supports MP4 (.mp4, .m4a) audio playback. I bought the phone yesterday, synchronized with my iTunes Library and then faced with a fact that all my .m4a tracks (which is a standard Apple audio loseless format) is not playing on Xperia S (Walkman player) Slightly_frowning_Face

I use .m4a as a standard audio file on my iPhone and before buying Xperia S checked if this audio format is supported. Can Sony explain this question?

you have myriad options

1) transfer your songs using media go

or

2) change the format on your pc using formatfactory

or

3) use a different music player

or

4) upload them to google music

Okay, but what Sony means when says that MP4 (.mp4, .m4a) file format is supported?

I want to keep my music as it is, because I sync my iTunes library both with iPhone and Xperia S. So no option you offer is acceptable Slightly_frowning_Face

it probably doesn't work because of copyright issues, and indeed its not acceptable but that's more of apple issue than anything, let me do some test but also try my suggestions

No problems with .m4a (ALAC aka Apple Loseless format) on official Walkman App in Xperia S, right?

P.S. "in late 2011 Apple open sourced and made royalty-free the Apple Lossless codec"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Lossless. I don't think it's copyright issue
