Xperia mini pro SK17i, HW keyboard backlight irregular backlit?

Hello all together,

I bought a used Xperia mini pro and noticed that the hardware keyboard has a very irregular backlight. If you have a look and compare especially the difference between the first two columns and the third column? Q, A, SHIFT, W, S and Y are bright, but then suddenly from E, D, X on the backlight is pretty dark. Is this normal or a defect? Do you experience the same with your backlight (please check in complete darkness) or is it backlit regular / do all keys have the same brightness on your Xperia mini pro?

This is normal and is due to the placing of the LED's that provide this backlight. In almost every circumstance you will not notice this, only in complete darkness will this become apparent.

Many thanks for you feedback Sam. But it's noticeable also in regular room-lighting and escpecially the blue characters are very difficult to read. Still normal though?

Yours does seem slightly more pronounced than I remember but it has been a while since I handled that model. Unfortunately it is fairly normal due to the placement of the LED's, it is just not feasible to have a separate LED for each key to provided the complete uniformity for the illumination.

Ok, if the LEDs are placed on the left and right border only, this could be an explanation. Thanks for your feeback again!

Maybe some other users that actually have this model could write their experience in addition? What I'm still wondering about is the sudden change in brightness between the first two and the third column on the left - it doesn't look like such a sudden difference on the right side, if you compare it...

My mini pro has even illumination right across. It's possible there are 3-4 LEDs across the keyboard and the middle 1-2 have failed? I had that with a different phone in the past. If that's the case there's not much you can realistically do about it I'm afraid.
