Move navigation buttons in landscape

Hi,

I am having issues with the narrow screen size when operated in landscape mode.

Is it possible to move the navigation buttons from the bottom to the side? Some apps will move the navigation buttons to the side, leaving more hight available, but the default is that they are at the bottom, and especially while browsing a webpage it is annoying to have that much space taken at the bottom, while there is plenty space in the side.

I have read reviews that describes the experience as "reading through a letterbox".

An alternative is to hide the navigation buttons.

Are there any settings for this?

If not could it be added in a future update?

I have seen solutions that require rooting and installing new firmware, but I don't feel like venturing into that space. Would prefer to have Sony provide the usable features. 🙂

This is coded into the app so the apps this happens on would need to be taken up with the developer

The browsers and standard navigation don't have any settings for the location of the buttons so it should be in the system settings rather than individual apps. Yes individual apps can override it and put them on the side or hide them, but we need a system setting also so it is possible as a user to set where the default location is when navigating the tablet or using apps that just use default (like the browsers do).

Thanks for the feedback. I will forward this internally.

But for web pages that doesn't use the width of the display, wouldn't it be better to turn the tablet to portrait mode? That will give you a higher vertical resolution than removing the navigation bar would and then you don't have any unused space on the side.
