Memory Card Unexpectedly Removed (32GB Class 10 Micro SD)

Hi everyone,

In November I purchased a memory card from Amazon for my new Xperia T:

Sandisk Ultra 32GB Class 10 Micro SD Card with SD Adapter

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007JTKLEK/ref=oh_details_o00_s01_i01

This worked at first, but after a month or so I kept getting a message on my phone saying the memory card had been removed. Turning the phone off and on sometimes solved this but often the error would come back within a few minutes. I'm now using the 8GB class 6 card from my old Sony Ericsson Elm and so far haven't had any errors (but then I didn't originally have any on the 32GB card for the first month or so).

I've returned this now and received a refund. At first I assumed it was a manufacturing fault as reviews against the item said other users of phones from other manufacturers were also having the same problem, however I've since read it could be an incompatability due to the fact the card is a high speed class 10.

Before I order another card can anyone tell me which 32GB cards are compatable? Should I order another class 10 or will I have the same problem? Or is it because it's a Sandisk 'Ultra'? I bought the fast memory card because I play back a lot of mp3 files and like to use the video camera (if that makes any difference on the speed I need).

Any advice will be appreciated!

Regards,

Stu.

Would it be possible for you to try the phone with another brand of memory card like Samsung?

I have heard of problems using Sandisk 32GB before and forwarded this as feedback.

Hey Doc_M, that's interesting, especially as it's the same make and model. I have to wonder if it's the phone, Android, or these particular Sandisk cards,,,,

Hi Richard,

Thanks - that's very interesting. It's also crossed my mind as it could just be these Sandisks. Unfortunately I'm a bit reluctant to buy another 32GB Class 10 in case I have the same problems and can't return it.

I tweeted about the problem and @SonyXperia replied to say only class 2's and 4's are supported - surely those will be too slow and result in dropped frames on the HD video? I was thinking about getting a class 6 32GB as I've not had any problems using the 8GB Class 6 from my old Sony Ericsson Elm. Do you think that'd work okay in the phone and not drop any frames? The dropped frames are my big concern.....

I bought a 16Gb class 10 some days ago, and I am giving it an intensive use. No problems so far.

It is from an unknown company (no Sandisk, no Kingston... etc). I bought because it was a very good deal.

I'll let you know if there's some problem.

YW

Maybe it is not the Sandisk... maybe it is the 32Gb.

Not sure.

For now, mine works well...

As a security, when the new update posted in PTCRB will be available, I will take it out before.

Mine was toasted at the same moment I updated the phone with JB.

I've been wondering that - just done some Googling and this is affecting tons of people (masses of people with Samsung S3's as well) - mostly it's SanDisk 32GB Class 10's being used but not exclusively - other makes, speeds and sizes (some 16GB reports but not as many).

I'm not convinced it's just Android though as mine started doing this a week or two before Jelly Bean - but I also remember an update coming through around taht time as well. Really wish Google, SOny, Samsung, Sandisk or someone would take responsibility and resolve this. It's been happening or a few months now - terrible customer service for there to be no formal acknowledgement....

Hey everyone,

I got fed up waiting for an official response from Sony as there clearly isn't going to be one. I've been running an a Class 6 8GB Samsung Micro SDHC and this week, tired of waiting, I purchased a 32GB Samsung (class 6) from Amazon.

It's only been two or three days but so far I've no problems to report! I've left the SD Card Monitor running and it's not flagged any problems. Of course, the Sandisk card ran for a few months without problems so I'm possibly being optimistic but I'm suspecting an incompatability with either the class 10 or the Sandisk cards and either the reader on the Xperia T's or the Jelly Bean update.

The card I purchased may be found here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00A3R4A9W/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have forwarded this and it's being looked into.

I don't think it's a problem in general with class 10. I'm using a Samsung 16GB class 10 without any problems and my wife has got a Samsung 16 GB class 10 UHS-1 card which works fine.

Hi Guys,

I was having an issue with my mico SD card . Stontium 32 Gb class 10. The phone suddenly did not recorganise the card . so did few other phones on the same card.

I tried the card using the adapter on the computer and it took a long time to get detected once it was detected i ran a "check for errors" a few times and after that the card started working well on the computer and on the phone.

Maybe for some reason the phone is corrupting the file system!!( I Dont know for sure). Of many years using different phones and Expansion cards . this is the first time i am facing this kinda situation.

Thanks and Regards,

Archie
