Alright, a member of support staff better know what just happened to me. I updated my handset about a week ago at least.
So I'm listening to music on my SD card on the Z a few minutes ago, album finishes - navigated to a new album and tapped 'play'.
Got a message saying 'cannot play track'.
Next thing, 3200 tracks becomes 0 tracks.
Every single song has now been wiped from the sd card.
This isn't the first time this has happened - I reported this back in March when I first got the handset - that albums would mysteriously disappear - and I went from, say, 130 albums down to 108 albums for no good reason, they just wiped off the card, of the system's own accord.
And today, the entire card's been wiped, this simply happened when playback of an album ended, I did not interfere with the handset in any manner.
EVERYTHING has been wiped from the SD card, apart from the Screenshots in the 'Pictures/Screenshots' folder.
So, I've just lost my entire library of music, some of which had been backed up, some of which hadn't, all of which had been paid for and are now irretrievable, so you've just cost me a lot of money Sony... And now I'm gonna have to spend another few weeks re-ripping CDs from my library.
Consider this bug officially reported for a SECOND time, and I demand acknowledgement of the issue below.
Lemon.
it is probably due to SD card incompatibility. i was using Lexar C10 32gb before this and was experiencing the same thing until i changed my SD card recently to samsung hdsc C10 32gb. now everything is working fine and i have not experience any of the following symptoms since then. try changing to another brand.
Guess what?
I'm using a Class 10 Lexar 32GB.
So, looks like 4.1.2 had minor issues with Lexar branded microSD cards.
And 4.2.2 has major issues with Lexar branded microSD cards.
This is absolutely infuriating! If the Xperia Z advertises microSD card compatibility, then they should support those claims!!!
The card worked perfectly on the Arc, not so perfectly on 4.1.2, and now it's just wiped itself, or the Xperia has wiped it, for whatever reason.
The bottom line is this;
A microSD card is a microSD card - if it works, then it should work - there's no excuse for bugs like this that wipe your entire library, and every single photo I've taken since March...!!!
The card has worked perfectly since the update, up until today, then this happened suddenly - this leads me to believe that while Sony support this card/brand, they don't support it well. Another example of shoddy support.
guess what, shit happens. I had my vids and pix wiped as well.. it's either u change your sd card or u have to bare with it.
try cleaning the contact strip on the card
