Led Notifications not working since lollipop update

Hi

Last week I updated to Lollipo, since then the only time the LED activates is when the battery is charging, I've checked in setting and its enabled (I've tried disabling it and re-enabling) I've also tried the same for individual apps (Whatsapp and viber) with no joy.  The notifcation bars do appear on the lock screen

Stamina mode is disabled

Build number is:14.5.A.0.242

Do you get any notification LED at all?

no, its only ever on when the phone is on charge. it worked fine prior to the update

Check if it works on safe mode

i think i may have sorted it, in a fashion.

I had the phone on silent mode, as soon as i switched that off the led worked, however i was no wondering if there was a way to stop the vibration alert without activating silent mode?

Try this 

on the homescreen > press the volume key > set it to sound > tap on the bell icon > it will be on vibrate mode, check if the LED notification work.

yes the LED now works. thank you.

however the phone still vibrates on notification, which isn't the end of the world i just wondered if you could stop all vibrations?

I've tried everything and still my notification LED does nothing apart from when charging. What do Sony do with these updates? Do they perform any sort of testing or quality control?!
