Is the included Front Screen Protector made of the same material as the ET988 for the Z3 tablet?

Hi All,

Dunno if anyone (Sony Reps?) can answer this but.....

I am a bit of Screen Protector nut - having been using them on all my devices for years and tried lots of different brands over the years from the cheapest to some quite expensive ones. I also dont like shiny screens and prefer matt effect.

I was pleasantly surprised to find my Z3Compact phone came with dual protectors - for the front and back. Whilst the back is gloss effect, the Front SP actually has a subtle matt / anti glare finish to it. However, unlike any other matt SP I have tried it is still smooth to the touch and barely impacts the screen quality.

I also own the Z3 Tablet and have applied a decent quality Matt SP to it - but I find the touch a bit grainy when sliding my finger around.

I read somewhere that the ET988 has a semi-matt anti glare surface - but have never been able to confirm this.

I dont want to waste £10-15 on getting the ET988 unless it uses the same material and has the same touch finish as the Front SP that was included with my Z3C Phone.

So, can anyone from Sony - or a user with 1st hand experience confirm if the above is true or not?

Has anyone here tried the official ET988 SP with their Z3C Tablet?

Can they confirm if it has a subtle matt / anti glare finish?

Is the SP surface smooth to touch or somewhat grainy - a subjective question I know - but would still like opinions?

I posted this '2nd' question over on the Z3 Tablet sub-forum as a new thread - and it has just been moved and appended onto the end of this?

I dont understand why this was done? OK it could be considered a duplicate thread - but the question is different and was aimed at Z3 Tablet owners who may not read the Z3C Phone forum...

Not happy at Sony forum admins heavy handedness.

The items included in the box vary per region/country and even network/carrier. in other words some users Xperias didn't come with screen protectors. Which could also mean that the screen protector included with yours its not the same included in a different country. 

Contact your local Xperia Care for clarification or perhaps @Hampus @Rickard  could elaborate on this.

Thanks - but technically I did not cross post.

This forum was  a question for Z3 Compact phone users and the other forums was general question asking Z3 Tablet users about the touch and feel of the ET988.

The questions were somewhat different - I did not refer to the Z3C Smartphone SP in the other thread.

Seriously, I spend my hard earned money to buy several Sony devices and I cant ask two similar but different questions on different sub forums? Just weird!

And thanks but I am aware of the Search option - I came here for advice and dont need to be patronised in that manner. I did search for ET988 and screen protector before I posted my questions...

I agree with you, you bought a phone and you expect Sony to clarify your questions, that's great, but this is a user based forum, you will need to contact Sony directly to get an answer from them

I've seen other posts on users asking what type or brand of screen protector it's included, still no answer.

It has now been 7 days since I raised a support request with Sony on this matter - still no response - other than the iniitial auto-response.

Any Sony reps on here - can you please respond?

Spooky timing of your post - as I finally got a response.

However, the response failed to confirm if the ET988 has an anti-glare / semi-matte finish :

If the screen protectors that came with the Xperia Z3 Compact handset are Sony official ones then the ET988's will be made of very similar material but of better quality.

Which is such whooly language / vague language I dont even know why they bothered....
