Internet Connection Problem with D6633

Okay before I start, I've read all the relevant threads on this forum and tried all the tips given in them but still having problems.

A bit of background.  WiFi has been working fine on a number of WiFi access points operating in infrastructure mode wothout any problems until 2 days ago.  Z3 shows as "connected" to the Wireless AP and has been issued an IP address.  None of the internet enabled apps like Facebook, Messenger, Google Play Store, Chrome etc work via WiFi but work okay with data via my phone provider.

WiFi Analyzer app shows more than adequate signal strength Typically -30dBm which is pretty high, but drops to -55dBm in other areas of the building

I have disabled WiFi encription as I thought this might have been causing a problem but it didn't make any difference.

  • I can ping the phone via my PC connected to the same router AP    PC is working via the WiFi okay.
  • I have tried restarting the phone in SAFE Mode.  No joy.
  • I haven't added any new apps to the phone for more than a week.
  • Have tried rebooting the router.  No joy, but all other wifi devices connected to it operated okay so eliminating the router as the source of the problem.
  • Exhibits the same problem when connected to other wifi routers.  Shows as connected but internet enabled apps won't work.
  • Performed a factory reset on the phone.  Still not working.  Crying_Face
  • Phone's build number is 23.0.F.1.74

Any suggestions are most welcome.  It's starting to look as though my 3 week old Z3 is a dud.  Thinking_Face

Cheers,

Alan

Sorry to hear that you have issues with WiFi.

What happens if you enter the IP-address of your router in Chrome in your phone? Can you access the settings page of the router?

What frequency ranges does your router operate in?

2.4 GHz (802.11b/g/n) or

5 GHz (802.11a/h/j/n/ac)

Do you have IPv6 enabled by your ISP on the router?

Check what IP address the router gave to your phone via DHCP.

Try setting static IP on the phone maybe.

Problem is now resolved.  Thanks guys.

Ended up performing a complete factory reset and backup on the phone as well as a factory reset on the router.  Seems to have fixed the issue.  Strange that other wi-fi devices connected to the same router were woring perfectly except the Z3.  Also been able to ping the phone from a wi-fi connected laptop seems strange too.  How can you ping the device but it can't see the network????

Anyhow, here's hoping it won't happen again.  Face_with_cold_Sweat

Glad to hear that it works now Slightly_smiling_Face

It's hard to say what caused this. It may perhaps have been some sort of issue with DNS.
