I can't see SD Card connected to PC

Hi,

I have Xperia Sola with microSD Kingston 16Gb class 10.

The problem is that when connecting to a computer, I see only the built-in memory ("Internal Storage"), but dont see SD card anywhere (Windows 7 x64)

In Device Manager on my PC i see device "Mass storage" (VID_0FCE&PID_A173) with yellow triangle (it means drivers not found, i google it but find nothing), perhaps this is reason?

At the same time i can see this card on phone via Settings - Memory and via Astro File manager (the card is showed as ext_card)

What do you advise that I could see SD Card via PC? (sd card must be inserted into xperia sola Slightly_smiling_Face )

Thank you

Yes, i can see the size, i see it in the notifications, i can mount unmount format etc, only option i can't change is MTP or MSC. Doesn't matter what i do it never shows in the PC (either in explorer or Sony PC Companion)

then lets try to delete all entries with "Sony" word in Device Manager (with checkbox "Delete drivers files"), connect phone and check for new hardware.

If nothing found, try to connect phone to any other PC (i use the virtual machine by vmware)

(strongly recommend Windows 7 PC)

The only thing showing is when the phone is connected 'Xperia Sola'. Theres nothing else in Device Manager. I Deleted it and reinstalled and still no SD showing. Gonna try on other pc now

The other pc can show the SD as a removable disk but not inside Xperia Sola, as if i was using the sd adapter

ok, "XPERIA sola" with Internal Storage is MTP-protocol device, it does not need any drivers for device and therefore always work.

I think problem maybe:

1. SD card drivers on PC (the most likely cause), for diagnostic this i use this cardreader:

http://emea.apacer.com/ru/products/Mega_Steno_AM101.htm

its just an adapter for microsd, no own hardware inside, This is let me see "Generic USB 2.0 card" in Device Manager and i can see lack of drivers.

2. Broken cable

3. any other devices between phone and PC (usb hub, for example). You must connect usb cable from phone direct to usb port on PC back side.

nice, its normal. SD card not show inside "XPERIA sola" ,cos its not MSC device, its MTP device )

so problem is PC drivers.

so how do i fix it in this pc?

use microsd adapter like this

http://emea.apacer.com/ru/products/Mega_Steno_AM101.htm

u must see in Device Manager "Generic USB 2.0 card" with yellow triangle (it means unknown device).

Next search for drivers ("Update drivers" command under entry properties)

i have that but thats a pain in the ass to use everytime i wanna put something the the sd card. there must be a way to make it work like it should

no, u dont need extract card from phone every time )))

i mean than this adapter help u to install card driver in ur system properly

and after this you PC must see card via phone.

i see card via adapter in my system as "Generis USB SD Reader USB Device"
