Is that the stock earphone that comes in the box or you purchase another headset?
If is not the stock once that came with the package, you need to check if is CTIA certified.

my headphones were working fine before but yesterday somwhow suddenly they stopped.
Clear data for smart connect.
I too have the same problem, tried clearing the smart connect cache and data but nothing worked.
I have this problem only with the stock headphones but the same headphones are working perfectly in my laptop.
Anyone help pls.

Plug the headset while in a call or while listening to music.
Tried that even but still not working.
All the other headphones are working with my device and my headphones is working fine with all the other devices except my Sony Xperia M.
Also, whenever I plug in the headphones and start playing music, the music timer starts but the music starts 10 seconds later and this problem occurs only with my headphones.
Lately my Xperia M has been behavin very weird in this respect.
Please someone help.
