Headphones problem

Hi all!

I have a problem with my Xperia M (C1905) and headphones.

I have a pair of headphones model Yamaha pro 400 and I can't get any sound to them on Xperia M, the music just plays on the speaker in the phone itself and not in the headphones. It works fine with the headset/headphones that comes with the telefphone from the box.

Why is that?! The headphones (Yamaha Pro 400) worked perfectly on my previous phone and works on my computer!

Please anyone have any ideas of what it could be?

Sorry for bad english.

Thanks!

Hey, i had Beats headphones and I tried them with my Xperia (by the way the cable i was included had a mic and remote) but no sound emitted from the headphones. I read the troubleshooting guide and it said there are only specific types of headphones compatible with the device.

Then I tried my Beats with the straight cable (no mic or anything) and it worked! But I find it really stupid that Sony doesn't make a phone that it not compatible with some major headphone brands.

Hope this helps Slightly_smiling_Face

Thanks for the reply but the problem I am facing is with my stock headphones which was working fine till last month.

Suddenly this problem comes up and the problem happens only with my Stock headphones which came with the box.

I tried just every audio/speaker I had to hand and all worked.

  • Sennheiser headphones
  • Sennheiser ear buds
  • Sony MH410c ear buds (came in the box, but never use them)
  • Onkyo reciever
  • Sony Braiva TV
  • Dell desktop speakers
  • Syllable G18 Bluetooth 4.0 headphones with 3.5mm cable.
  • Sony GTK-N1BT "Neo Tank" speaker via 3.5mm cable.

Some considerations:

A phone cover may not allow a 3.5mm plug to seat into the port correctly.

A plug may have a moulding that doesn't allow a 3.5mm plug to seat into the Xperia M port correctly.

The 3.5mm contacts in the port of the Xperia M are not making proper connect with the plug.

A possible option is to get a short 3.5mm cable with male/felmale plug that is known to work with the Xpera M and then plug your headphones into this short cable.

I do this with big moulded 3.5mm plugs as I'm too slack to take the Xperia M cover off. Neutral_Face

There might be some fluff from your pocket in the headphone socket. Try turn off the phone and clear it gently out with a toothpick or a paper-clips.

Had problems with my earphones, now it is working again 🙂

kind regards
