Headphone socket intermittent problem

On my Z1C I have noticed in the last few days that when I plug in eaphones, the sound still comes out of the speaker and not the headphones.

Sometimes, plugging and unplugging the earphone a few times fixes the problem, sometimes it does not.

However, rebooting the phone always fixes the problem - for a while at least anyway. But once I disconnect and reconnect the problem can occur again, until I reboot.

The fact that reboot fixes the problem suggests a software/firmware issue rather than hardware - does that make sense? Also, I dont recall ever having this problem before this most recent firmware upgrade which I only applied a few weeks ago.

I did a search on the forum and see someone else reported this too, but it was dated before the latest firmware release - which does not make sense to me.

Anyone else seen this since the latest firmware?

Thanks!

Thanks Jake,

I will give that a try - I must have forgot to tick the subscribe option so I did not see your replies.

I have been rebooting the phone to get round the problem as I did not fancy being without it for 7-10 days if I had to send of for repair.

Next time it happens I will try your suggestion and see what happens. Shame you support colleague I spoke to did not suggest that in the first place - her only solution was to do a Software Repair or post it in for physical repair.

Will let you know if your suggestion works for me.

Hi Jake,

I forgot about this because my phone was pretty stable for a few weeks after my post.

The earphone problem started happening again so I came back here and saw your post again.

I have just checked the phone and Smart Connect was actually Disabled.

So, should I Enable it and then clear app data next time it happens? Or given that it was Disabled all this time - should it even be a factor in this problem?

Thanks!
