Having prob with Battery backup

my xperia u battery lasts for max of 12hrs fully remainning in standby mode. i had also gone to service center, they said they have to change the battery, even after getting that battery the problem still persists.

i tried taking out battery for 5 mins then reinserting it but no fruitful result.i hav checked battery usage menu but there is nothing suspicious.

no task killers or battery monitors installed, free ram is about 200 mb, build cesion 6.0.B.3.188., android 2.3.7

also i want 2 know only repairing phone thru pcc will also update my phone to latest avilable firmware or it will only repair it.

things i have tried to solve the battery issue:

-taken out the battery for five minutes n then reinserted.

-factory data reset on the phone.

-taken the phone to sony service center, they said the battery is needed to be replaced, and then inserted the new battery given by them.
