Sell your phone in second hand market than buy one that you believe won't give you issues. If you are brave enough, root your phone and install custom ROM to suit your need. Rather you donate the phone to needy than dump it.

I'd say, go and root instead of throwing it. Even I am frustrated but LOL why would I throw a phone Slightly_smiling_Face

There are many reasons why your Xperia S don't work. One obvious reason is cut SIM. Another is apps that interfere with the OS. I suggest you try insert another Micro SIM and try.

I to am having this problem on an Xperia S (LT26i). I have read many, and I mean MANY posts to this forum and others of this being a VERY common problem and still there is no fix. I did take the advice and my phone went to a repair centre and it came back and I was told that it was irrepairable and would cost more than the phone!! I had only had it for 7 months!! Tied to a contract and had an expensive brick!!

So I have SUS'd it, downgraded it and got the wireless to work only to start using the phone again and it stop working again.

I have got to say that I moved from an iPhone 3GS to what I thought was a decent phone (Sony) and a tried and tested OS. I actually wish that I had never wasted my money and stayed with IOS and Apple. I didn't have a single issue in the 3 years with that phone.

I have subsequently upgraded to the newest Jelly Bean after several other software and OS changes. I got the phone WIFI working again (no hardware replacing, no costly repair)!!!! However again after several days the WIFI will not connect to any 'known' SSID's which is complete crap.

Also WIFI will not turn on unless I do a hard reset (hold power and up volume key and wait for the 3 vibrates). Turn it back on, take out the SIM (the Xperia reboots), then put the SIM back in (the Xperia reboots again) and then WIFI turns on and operates for a day. Then STOPS.....

Just to add I do not have any AV or app running my wireless connections. I have SUS'd, upgraded, downgraded, flashed, factory reset the device so many times that it is pretty much first time boot other than turning off touch tones.

This has to be a software, driver or other issue rather than hardware!!!! If it was hardware it would just NOT WORK. There are also SO many owners of Xperia S devices having this exact same problem/issue that I cannot believe that Sony has an inherent hardware component issue in all the phones.

Has anyone found a way to reslove these issues or is Sony actually listening and trying to resolve them themselves????

Hello Bearing,
It seems that you are strongly supporting to SONY product.Anyone complains then you reply like this is not complain forum. You says only to post issues im this forum.
You replied to all my post named "masurkarns"
Plz go through it.
Here you also replied very negative manner to this thread.
And now answer me simple question that
HOW .200 or 0.211 firmware is released by SONY without testing for its basic 2G and battery drain issue?
Now you answer that its third party mistake i.e.PCTRB not tasted properly.
But what is SONY engineers role.
Are they dont have enough time to work on Xperia S.
On 29 May. 200 released and on 26 Aug.2013 .96 update released.
Almost three months taken to fix issue.
Is this is speed of SONY team ?
So dont reply in this forum on SONY side every time.
Agree that SONY done lots of mistake in xperia s.

Can you prove no testing done when Sony released their firmware?

2G issue is regional and not a global problem as most phones today are already into 3G with 4G following closely behind. Other than India, Middle East and Eastern Europe countires facing this problem, other places does not have any issues using Wifi and or Data.

Why do you think when you upgrade to Jelly Bean that it will save battery power? Everyone knows that JB is a energy hungry programme that consume more power than ICS. Or else how to make "Buttery Project" smooth? Don't believe me try to compare newer phone's battery size and that of Xperia S. The soon to be launched Xperia Z1 has a 3000 mHz battery that is twice the size of SXS.

Android is a  Open Source OS developed by Google, not Sony. Any upgrade in OS needs a rework of the exisiting Sony software to fit the OS and this takes time. I am very appreciative that Sony managed to give Xperia S a taste of Jelly Bean. 3 months is not long if it does fix the issues in one go, and I believe Sony has done that.

Everyone makes mistake but the worst is those who keep blaming the people who rectify them. Since you keep saying this is your last Sony product, why keep coming back? Move on to other brand that gives you what you want. And I won't be surprise that you will appear in their forum condamning them when things don't work out.
