I think that there is a problem with the hardware. It seems as if the motion sensor has not been assembeled in the proper direction as it should have been. I had this problem before but the motion sensor games used to work fine. The only problem was that when I used to hold the mobile straight in the vertical position it used to be approx 30% off. So, even for driving straight in the car racing game I had to hold it in a tilted position.

This problem became more evident when I installed 'Water level' app and saw that the axis was almost 30% off even when I kept it straight. The sky level option in this app also showed the same problem. This means that the hardware itself have not been put in the right alignment. Because even a slight mis-allignment would mean that the motion sensor would work differently. Not even the software update was able to solve this problem.

I had this problem solved when my Main board got replaced due to an irrepairable error. When I tested it, the motion sensor games were aligned perfectly. Even the Water Level app showed me the perfect allignment from all directions.

I would also like to tell you guys that motion sensor apps & games would continue to work perfectly but this problem would become evident only when you would compare the allignment with apps like water level.

So, I am sure that this is Sony's assembling fault. Which results in inaccurate data from these sensors. As you also can see that even when there have been so many comments & the thread has become preety old. Even then no 'administrator' or 'moderator' have answered or given his/her views on this issue. It's very clear that these guys know about this problem but they don't want to reveal it to ignorant & silly people such as you.

There's no way the MEMS IC that has the accelerometer function could be placed more than a couple of degrees out of orientation on a PCB without the PCB not working at all. I suspect it needs calibrating after manufacture. All that would have been needed is the facility to be able to press a button when the handset was in known orientation to 'zero' it.

Out of interest REDHOTIRON had your first handset that was 30% (degrees?) off been debradanded or reflashed with a service other than SEUS? Just trying to disprove that a non SEUS could not preserve calibration info.

While, I am not aware what kind of 'MEMS IC' have been used in this unit. The solution to this problem can be as simple as providing a calibration option in the 'service menu'. So, that the correct co-ordinates can be saved as default in the mobile itself.

I can confirm to you that, I have only used SEUS for repairing & updating purpose. Also, It had been updated once by Sony service centre as well. Though, I had not used any other software like Omnius or Wotanserver for reflashing. I did used Omnius & FAR manager with SEFP2 plugin for modding it with the usual stuffs such as putting flash menus, patching, replacing default drivers etc-2.
