I have just bought a new elm from UK. when i installed that water level app they levels are off. i was wondering is there any way to calibrate the accelerometer? please help.
Maybe you're right. I'll try later to find other apps that measure accuracy of the accelerometer to test this (if the problem is in the app or the motion sensor itself).
Thanks for your help.
btw - are you a SE representative? I've noticed it's mainly you answering questions in this forum.
No, I've never worked for SE, or any other mobile phone company for that matter.I'm just a forum member like you.
That's even more impressive.
You're doing a great job helping people.
Thanks, you're very kind.
hi
from standby press : R, *, L, L, *, L, * [L=direction pad Left, R=direction pad Right], then go to "Service-tests", scroll down to select accelerometer.
there you will find X , Y and Z position. put mobile's back on a book or some thing else. X=0, Y=0,. when putting buttom of mobile on the book X=0, Z=0;
it os too sensetive the 0 will became 64 or -64 with a littel tilt. I think it is the best way to see if the ACC is calibrate or not.
Good luck
Thanks. It's definitely not calibrated according to this test.
Neither is mine, according to this test, although there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the accelerometer.
Same problem with accelerometer on mine. X shows -64 when stood vertical in service menu, although it only seems to change in increments of 64. Maybe that's to make it more readable as if X,Y & Z all changed by 1 on the display it might change too fast and be unreadable.
As a result of (un)calibration my Water Level application is off on all 3 axis and as such pretty useless. Sony can't have spent much time testing this as the help describes it as "Walter Level" !!
IIRC I once read a post somewhere which suggested all calibration data (not just for accelerometer) was stored in flash and I wondered if I could have lost this when using one of the non legit methods of debranding and upgrading firmware in the early days. I've susbsequently upgraded to R7CA061 using SEUS but still no improvement.
you can use this free app. pocket inclinometer
Can't seem to find this application now? Has it been pulled?
