Can anyone answer this? I need to know if I should continue waiting for ICS on my phone or go ahead and apply the unofficial fix for it.
thanks
Unfourtunately I do not think that is an option for me.. I bought the phone in USA (ST15i version) and was told it has international manufacturers warranty. I am in Romania now and here the so called "authorized" service dealers have no idea what to do with it, they just give me the runaround for weeks. Any suggestions?
thanks
Second way is to root the phone, stick to howto on the internet and fix myself in 5 minutes. And if it doesn't help, throw this "smartphone" into bin.
And DEFINITELY the right way is TO NEVER BUY SONY MOBILE AGAIN.
What firmware version do you have? .42 or .62?
Our warranty applies on the five different parts of the world, so if you bought a phone in USA the warranty is valid in America and so on.
If you're in Europe now, or at least not in the USA anymore, you'll have to pay for any work that the service center performs on your phone to fix it. Unfortunately that is the only way i can figure that might be able to sort it out.
You can read more about are warranty and how it works on the link below.

.62
So we are almost in the same situation.
As .62 is not rootable (without downgrading to .42), I am waiting for ICS. If problem with overheating will persist (I expect, that it will), I use UnlockRoot - it should be able to root ICS. As on http://www.unlockroot.com/unlockroot.php FW 4.1.B.0.431 is on supported device list for i.e. SK17i
When phone is rooted I will use http://www.technetsavvy.com/2012/04/fix-xperia-mini-stt15i-overheating.html ... step "How to install GScript Lite and TouchPanel.sh"

If ICS is not available for me today, I will pay 1.99 EUR to WontanServer (http://www.wotanserver.com/en/sony-ericsson/se/xperia-mini-st15/4-1-b-0-431/language-download) and uprgade my phone there.

Just typical note: software updates may void Your warranty (but as you don't have local warranty, I think it is not important for you)
I know this is probably for xda, but I'm now trying to make a ROM(stock GB) with the script in it. I don't personally know if it will work because I have unrooted XM, with fixed overheating problem(it was fixed before I bought it, by my service provider) So i f I succeed in doing so, I will upload it, and if it works, Sony should probably make it too(The fixed system or the thing i mentioned above).
Just one thig for moderators/support can you please make on forum a Forever Login session?
Thanks
Ok so final answer: ICS does not fix the overheating issue. Also if you apply the fix and then upgrade to ICS, the fix will be undone.
Let me know how this works out for you. For now I ended up downgrading, rooting and applying the fix.
Lesson learned.

What if someone buy a phone in the USA but resides in the UK, can he just mail it to the US Sony repair center?
