I installed PC Companion on my HTPC and on my Acer tablet, both running on Windows 8.1 Then I followed the procedure to connect wirelessly.
On my HTPC everything went fine and now I can connect to it. On my Acer tablet it didn't work however. After starting PC Companion, clicking on "How To Connect" and connecting the phone to the tablet via usb, I got the message that the tablet was being installed, but after a few minutes I got the message that PC Companion was not able to connect to the phone.
What could be wrong ? As I said I followed exactly the same procedure on the HTPC and on the tablet. My phone and tablet are connected to the same network.
Already tried to uninstall and reinstall PC Companion but didn't help.
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I'm not sure how an Acer tablet works and if it should be possible to connect the phone with this function to a Tablet that runs Windows. All I know is that it should work fine for a PC desktop that runs Windows. But I will see if I can find some further info regarding this.
@uliwooly: I assume you mean the model of the tablet ? It is an Acer W700.
Btw, I have another strange issue with the PC. Sometimes it happens that my Sony Z1Compacts begins trying to connect with my pc without me having done anything. In the status bar I see: "Connecting tp PC" going on and off every few seconds. How can I disable this ?
Settings > Xperia connectivity > USB connectivity > do you have MTP or MSC?
Does it happen when you connect it to a different USB port?
@uliwooly:
I have MTP there and unfortunately my tablet has only one usb port.
And do you or any other member have an answer to my other question about the pc ? Even when I don't try to connect to the pc myself, every now and then the Sony phone tries to connect by itself. I see "Connecting to pc" in the status bar every few seconds.
could you check if you have this options
Settings > Xperia Connectivity > USB connectivity > Pair with PC
Yes, I have that option there.
@uliwooly:
Sorry for my late reply. I was away for a few days.
Tried what you told me, but no success. I still see :"Connecting to PC (actually the tablet of course) wirelessly" and after a few minutes: "Could not connect....".
I think that I have to forget this option. Although it would be nice to have a wireless connection, the fastest and easiest way to transfer files (mostly video or music) is to use an usb cable.
