Can't make youtube work

Hi all

Seems to be impossible to make youtube work.

I always get message "Problem beim Abspielen. Tippen zum WIEDERHOLEN" which means something like problem to play video, tap to retry.

I've already visited many forums to find a solution - no success yet.

I run Lollipop 5.1.1 on my tablet and I' tried this:

-Uninstalled/reinstalled youtube app

-Uninstalled updates

-Deleted data/cache

-Restarted device

-Checked google account

-Checked youtube availability

-Checked Wifi quality

On our iPad mini 2 and our Galaxy tab 4 youtube runs on the same google accountband works perfectly.

Seems that this is a very common issue (saw many posts on wed) but obviously without solution

Did it.

In safe mode youtube seems to work - at least for this test

So what's next?

You have some 3rd party app acting up.

Any procedure to find out or do I need to remove bit by bit  and try which one it is?

Unfortunately you need to remember if you have installed any antivirus,task killer etc lately. Or simply uninstall app by app that you have installed and you think might create the problem.

Installed Avira quite at the beginning - do ya think this could be the reason?

Anyway I'll start with avira and then have to do step by step... 😞

Yes,you can give it a try. Sometimes a simple boot in safe mode helps.

Uninstalled everything - no change. It works in safe mode, it doesn't work in normal mode.

Next step: Factory reset 😞

No,sorry. If you don't want to lose all your data,uninstall app by app.

Factory reset won't help, I guarantee it will break again. Mine started doing this after the latest YouTube update. I cannot get YouTube to work on this tablet, it's unbelievable the hoops  you have to jump through to get it to work correctly without any guarantee it will work in the end.

I have tried everything you have done in the original post but nothing works, iPad 2 and nexus 5 work with no issues, but for no obvious reason it refuses play any YouTube video. There are plenty of people with this same issue on the web so it must be a bug with this tablet specifically.
