Can't connect to my Car Bluetooth system

Hello,

I use since 4 years my built-in bluetotth system in my car (a Parrot system in a Citroen). I'm not able to connect to the system with my new Xperia S (no pairing allowed). I don't have any difficulties with an iPhone 4 and Android phones under Android 2.3.x (Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy, HTC Desire,...). I only had connection problems with an old X10 under Android 1.6 (but it was linked to andoid 1.6) and with my SGS2 under Cyanogen rom.

Does somebody has the same difficulties and found some solutions ? Would solutions would go through a FW update ? Hope Android ICS would solve this issue which is critical for me.

Best regards

Do you know what requirements the Bluetooth system has?

On page 8 in this document you'll find the full Bluetooth details for Xperia S.

Hi,

I just got Xperia S.

I tried to pair it with my Ford car audio and phone said following:

There was a problem pairing with: Ford Audio. The PIN or passcode is incorrect.

Phone never gives me an option to enter a PIN code.

I had previously Arc and had no problem with it.

I was able to enter PIN to connect.

Same with my wifes iPhone... No problem at all.

How can I enter PIN code when pairing with my car audio?

If you are not offered the option to enter a PIN it's probably a wrongfully generated message due to incompatibility.

Xperia arc and Xperia S are not running the same software which could explain this.

Contact Ford or the manufacturer on the Bluetooth system (if not the same) and ask in Xperia S should be compatible or not.

Hi

I have the same problem, I had a Toyota from 2009. When parring the radio (blue tooth) said "Enter 1234". That is impossibel on the Xperia ray whit Android 4.0.4. My car dealer says "Buy a new car" The system in your car i Blue tooth protocol 1.2 and your new phone is may not be backward compatible. So buy an old phone or a new car.

Hello everyone!

Tough  I have Xperia S still with Gingerbread, I encountered the same problem as many of you, and as many people in the web.

But let’s start the history step by step…

I tried to pair my Xperia with factory installed Bluetooth car kit (Citroen C5 - mfd. 2007).

The problem was that when I was trying to connect,  there was a “connection failure” announcement.

Phone was finding the car properly, but when connecting, there was no option for typing in the PIN code.

After searching many forums and “ask & answer” sites, I found that the phone is automatically send “0000” PIN code. In my car kit the PIN code is “1234”. Normally the phone, after trying those quad-zeros  should ask for other PIN code, but it didn’t.

I asked SONY about this bug, but no one could answer the question, why it doesn’t ask for alternative PIN and they were starting the “song” about incompatibility. Meanwhile I connected to the car kit Xperia Live with Walkman (Gingerbread), which also tried quad-zeros, but after few seconds, asked for PIN code.  J

Some people wrote that helped them trying to send the contact or any file to the Bluetooth car kit system…during this phone asked for PIN code and managed to pair the phone.
My problem was that when trying to send contact or file, phone didn’t detect the car… probably because it recognized it as the headset, not a device able to receive files.

I tried different programs advised for Bluetooth file transfers and Bluetooth connection “helpers”.

None of them was successful except one… ASTRO!

I had already installed ASTRO file manager, and I added to this ASTRO Bluetooth plugin. Both are available at GooglePlay.

I turned on Bluetooth in the phone, then turned on ignition in the car (without starting engine – pairing method can vary in cars of course), then Opened ASTRO file manager and chose jpg to send via Bluetooth… ASTRO found the car kit (which wasn’t found by the phone Slightly_smiling_Face ) . I press send and then it tried to pair asking for PIN code.  Of course sending the file failed, but the car remembered the pairing as well as the phone.

Now I just turn on Bluetooth in the phone and it connects with car, moreover it reads phonebook and call list form the phone without any problem.

So don’t believe manufacturer that some malfunctions are not their problems and all is due to incompatibility. FIX THIS BUG!!!
