Camera quality and software update

I tested Xperia L camera and find that there is excessive noise, low sharpness loss of texture in still images.

Even though colours are vivid and HDR is handy, sharpness is abysmal in all types of lighting situations.

Is this a software or hardware issue ? Come on SONY - you market this phone as camera phone and the quality is not upto mark in this otherwise impressive phone. I hope its a software issue that will be fixed in future updates (since similar optics are also used in Xperia Z and Xperia SL).

Also, where is the superior auto mode on Xperia L ?

This is the quality of a 5 megapixel camera.I dont understand what should I do.I have contacted the service centre.The engineer told there is no camera issue and just updated the phone software but still the problem exists.Look at the color of the object and the actual object.

Look at the image quality.I dont understand now what to do.Its really a disappointing with a well known company.

Guys I just went to authorized service centre and explained the problem ,they understood it and told that grains level is above tolerance limit so they'd given it for replacing lens module.i don't know whether it will solve or not it has been 3 weeks since I'd given it for repair,no reply.Persons sitting in call centre are just like IVR machines nothing to reply, saying same thing every time,they told me to wait for another 7 days 'SONY XPERIA SERVICE STINKS'

Anyway I'm going to sell it after getting it back for whatever money I'll get in market rest of money that I'll loose i'll assume I'd flushed in toilet

which service center you went????Why should we throw our money in the toilets, instead we should demand our money back from the company if they are unable to solve our problem or should provide us with another handset....What do you think????

no friend this is a normal picture on a 5 mega pixel camera.The thing is only I have zommed and I am holding the camera in a standing direction..

They won't do that.Actually this camera problem is there for most of(I think, for all) xperia L ,sony has cheated us by advertising for that device in the name of camera(Cption: 'Camera Experts Camera Phone:If camera engineers made a smartphone, what smartphone would they make? The answer is Xperia L, the Android mobile designed with Sony’s leading camera expertise.').

By your statement normally any one can understand the meaning of "Expertise".But the problem should be solved any how....

They are telling that coming software update may fix this issue but I don't know when it will come or whether it will solve the problem

"They" ?? as in who ?? may i ask who said this ??

If its shopkeepers, i'd doubt whether its reliable..

If its Service centre guys, i hope they're right..we desperately need a solution to this.

They means SONY support centre guys who are intended to reply for our queries and complaints via toll free number in Indian region,more accurately they were working on Rajasthan,I talked with manager,but hopeless.
