Camera quality and software update

I tested Xperia L camera and find that there is excessive noise, low sharpness loss of texture in still images.

Even though colours are vivid and HDR is handy, sharpness is abysmal in all types of lighting situations.

Is this a software or hardware issue ? Come on SONY - you market this phone as camera phone and the quality is not upto mark in this otherwise impressive phone. I hope its a software issue that will be fixed in future updates (since similar optics are also used in Xperia Z and Xperia SL).

Also, where is the superior auto mode on Xperia L ?

Here are two samples from my Xperia L, I'm not particulary unhappy or happy with the picture quality, it's okay-ish:

Yes, is your picture quality the same under every lighting condition? I updated to the .36 update that came out a week ago. Have you tried taking pictures with your phone on a standard of some sorts? I take blurry photo's if I don't use two hands to take a picture. You could try alternative camera apps like vignette or camera360 to see if maybe the stock camera app is acting weird? Reading your story, it looks like there is maybe a hardware issue.. have you contacted Sony Support yet?

With vignette noise is very much reduced, looks good.I just tried demo, so image was of VGA quality but it looks better than 5MP settings in default camera software junk

Just want to say that my camera is sometimes unsharp, too.

Also, a few days ago I took a video with the phone. The video was the whole time unsharp and the light was flickering.

Then I discovered the HDR Mode was on. So, never film something important with HDR, it will ruin your video.

Very bad camera Truly dissappointed Too noisy and when i zoom the pictures colours look like canvas painting.Gopish is saying the truth i have tested my friend's Xperia L also no change same poor image quality even 5MP of Xperia J is better than this.Sony Cheated us

All the images posted by wumbo7 is below average image quality.Xperia L is an experiment of sony in camera department. And they failed to impress people. In mobile phone market Mid range mobile are most widely used.In xperia L both Front and Rear cam is dissappointing.

I have noticed that most pictures taken with the dedicated / physical button on the side of the phone are out of focus.

I tried several configurations (with of without stabilizer, HDR, etc) and took care of pressing the button in two steps (focusing first then shot)

Focus is done when pressing button ( I can see it on screen) however focus is lost when actual shooting occurs (I can also see it on screen).

This out of focus issue issue does not exist on pictures taken with the on screen button.

I am running the last update available.
