Bluetooth Disconnects - MW600 & HBH-DS220

Hi,

I'm using Xperia Play & having disconnection problems with BOTH Sony Ericsson HBH-DS220 & MW600. Initially I thought it was HBH-DS220 not playing nice with Android, so I bought MW600 Last Saturday, but sadly Problem persists.

Problem Description: Simply put, I'd be lucky to finish a phone call over the bluetooth headset without it dropping connection. The MW600 would still display the telephone number, while in fact no sound is coming or going through, and then it takes a few seconds for the "Bluetooth" toggle button on the phone call UI to disappear. Whenever that happens, I'll have to frantically yank off the earbud, take out the phone, and start appologising to the other person for missing the last few seconds of conversation.

It would also sometimes lose connection when I'm playing games, the sound would stop coming in from the game, then the game will freeze for a second or two, and suddenly the sound would start coming out from the the built in loud speakers and give everyboy else a heart attack.

I'm using stock firmware, never rooted/unlocked:

Model number: R800i

Kernel: 2.6.32.9-perf SEMCUser@SEMChost #1

Build Number: 4.0.2.A.0.58

Please help.

EDIT: On another note, after posting this, I found I have put my email as the displayed username... (I already have an account over at blog.sonymobile, and over there, username means email address. So I put my email address when I log on here, the button says something like "create account"... yes, its a bit weird, yet plausible since I was thinking you're confirming my email before proceeding onto anothe create account screen. There was no warning THAT username is the one going to be displayed.)

Anyway, I tried looking for a way to change username, or a button to delete this account but to no avail. Since I'll have email spiderbots crawling all over my email address anyway now, I may as well post the bluetooth problem above hoping to get a solution sooner.

But please help me change this username to "ClioCreslind" if possible, or delete the account so that I can re-create with another name. If that is the case, please try to keep this thread but mask the username somehow to help resolve my problem.

Thanks!

Clio

1. I fixed your username Slightly_smiling_Face

2. As for the bluetooth issue: It's a strange one. You didn't mention how long the connection lasts... is it always the same? Can you have a 10 minute call fine, but the next it disconnects after 30 seconds?

If you connect the headset and use it right away, is it better or worse then if they are connected for a few hours before a call?

Did the 220 work OK at first and then the problem started? Did you happen to use either headset with another phone?

Let me know and we can discuss more!

Hey, thanks for fixing the username!

Back to Bluetooth problem: No, the disconnect occurs randomly, not at a fixed time. And on Monday, I was confident my brand new MH600 would solve the problem, so I have it paired & connected when I left for work, but on my first REAL phone call from work a couple hours later, this disconnection problem occured. Since then, I have tried powering up only when I need to call/receive a call, and also resetting MH600 with Call+Power buttons under pairing mode, and still it'll get random disconnects. The situation was basically same for DS220 on the Xperia PLAY.

Somehow my FAKE calls, which I'm calling myself from my other mobile (Samsung E848, built-in speaker & mic <-> Xperia play, MH600), only show this problem rarely. Perhaps it is due to these FAKE calls being relatively quiet (I usually test in quiet rooms, and i wouldn't know what to talk about with myself...). Or maybe the Xperia PLAY would really like the other person to be more like me... I know, I know, but disconnecting is not going to solve anything, right?

Before Xperia Play, I used to use the DS220 with a Samsung E848 dumbphone and it worked fine.

From some 10 calls during these couple of days, it seems that pairing the MW600 while setting the Xperia PLAY to be bluetooth "visible" results in lower chance of disconnecting mid-call.

However, the "bluetooth visible" status is (rightly) time-limited to 120 seconds. And sometimes, (perhaps after a few hours without calls, or perhaps it was after charging/switching on/off, I don't know exactly...), the phone would not be connected to the headset (phone audio & media audio) anymore depite both were never switched off since last use. Pressing the call button on the MW600 will re-connect it with the phone, but that would be connecting while the Bluetooth is not "visible". As a result, calls made under this connection will likely disconnect...

Is it suppose to be like this?

Late last week, I went and exchanged for another MW600.

But actual use during last couple of days shows same disconnect problem.

So the Bluetooth Headsets are only good for listening to music and playing games, totally unreliable for phone calls. Angry_Face

My HBH-DS220 works with Xperia Acro S also has the same problem. It will automatic disconnect after each phone call. When it occurs, I need to turn off and restart my HBH-DS220 again. This Problem really bother me, especially when I am driving.

Hope SONY could solve this bug as soon as possible.
