battery problem

my XU had gingerbread on it
even then it consumes a lot of battery
i have to charge it almost thrice to four times a day
even in the night, on standby, it consumes 25 to 30 of the battery which i check the next day mornin
can anyone suggest me some solution for it
maybe some app or anythin which will help
and if i upgrade to ICS then will it solve the problem by Sony's Extended Standby Mode ???

yes when i switched to gsm only through trial n error methods i am getting battery life equal to when the phone was in gb ie about 6 or 7 days with minimal use, 2 or 3 days with moderate use and 1 or 2 days with heavy use.. but in gb my network mode used to be wcdma(preferred)/gsm. i guess sony have sacrificed battery to give a better signal reception.

and the signal strength should be all 4 bar indicators all the time. if it alternates between 3 and 4 then the battery drain problem arises again.. even with gsm only mode.

thanx mikeey but mobile tower is just besides my house and the signal is always mostly full(4 bars)

my battery status:

android os : 51%

screen : 26%

cell stand by: 6%

android system : 5%

voice calls : 4%

phone idle : 4%

admsrv : 2%

i did gsm only but nothin good...now reseted my settings...lets see what happens...

android os : 51%    - that's the problem. In normal using is Screen : 51% , not Android OS. So check running apps and kill what you don't need

Yup i knw dats d problem...but i dont have any activ apps...only settings menu n keyboard and viber....still i dont know y the system uses this much battery...:(

even i rooted my phon to uninstall bloatwar still like this...:(:(

hello everyone, i just want to post here my battery consumption and a question

Screen: 88%

Android System: 4%

Cell Standby: 3%

Phone Idle: 2%

now my question is,how does the extended standby mode works? i remember when i was still in GB, my Cell Standby is going up to 20% and above even if i text all day and it goes up to 40% when i sleep and checked it when i wake up. but now in ICS, my Cell Standby is always like that even if i sleep, i didnt see it goes higher than 5% even if i sleep more than 8 hours. i always stop applications in running apps, only the xperia keyboard and usbotg are left in my running apps. im thinking that something is wrong, because in GB cell standby is in 20% so i thought that ICS's extended standby mode would give me about 60% of cell standby but it just make the cell standby worse. does anyone here also experiencing this? thank you very much in advance, i post in many other topics too but i dont have the answer until now, again thank you very much.

I'm not sure what you are asking for. I think that "Cell Standy" : 3% is excellent result. It's not the time measurement, but only battery consumption measurement. And 3% is super result

hmm i think i got it now, does it means that if the cell standby is lower it means it is better?

Yes, because we are looking on battery % consumption. Lower = better    We are not looking on time, how long it was in stand-by mode

oh so it is nice then, i thought that because it is lower it means that my phone is not going to standby mode, at first i thought that if the cell standby is higher, it means my phone is on standby mode most of the time.
