battery problem

my XU had gingerbread on it
even then it consumes a lot of battery
i have to charge it almost thrice to four times a day
even in the night, on standby, it consumes 25 to 30 of the battery which i check the next day mornin
can anyone suggest me some solution for it
maybe some app or anythin which will help
and if i upgrade to ICS then will it solve the problem by Sony's Extended Standby Mode ???

but in my room the signal is 3 bars and i cant change my room
so what do i do??
an app ?? or anythin else ??
i think i tried an app named network signal booster but in a post, ARNAB had told that network boosters, ram boosters, etc etc arent helpful and only degrade the battery more
so i removed it
please suggest somethin coz it drains the battery like hell

no. 2g is almost obsolete in most nations outside asia.
