Battery only lasts for 8 hours

Is it acceptable that the battery lasts only around 8 hours with normal use?

Hi @JK15,

How long the battery lasts depends completely on usage. How are you using your phone? Are you using any apps that might require more juice than others?

I suggest that you use your phone until there is about 15% charge left. Then go to Settings > Battery > Battery usage. How's it looking here? You can upload a screenshot of your battery usage here and I'll take a look at it.

I used the phone as usual. Few phone calls, Facebook and listening to music for around 30 min. My old 2 years old phone lasted for about 5-6 hours with the same usage and it's surprising that the new one is not much better. As soon as I touch the phone the battery is dropping. Just writing this took around 2%. Battery usage was 30% for the screen set in the middle range, 10% talk and 10% cell standby. The apps as Facebook or WhatsApp was 4% or less.

We'll need more info to better assist you

charge the phone 100% use it as you normally would then once the battery reaches 10%

settings >  battery > take screenshots of:

1. the list

2. tap on the graph and take a screenshot

3. back > tap on the top 4 items on the list > take a screenshot of each

post them all here or upload the screenshots to box or dropbox or google drive or etc and post the link

make sure to tap on the graph

Hi,

I've had my phone for 9 days, and I'm also having horrendous issues with the battery.

Currently according to the battery management, my screen is taking up 47% of my battery. Top four apps including whatsapp, playstore and Google are taking up <5%. Charging to 100%, taken off charge at 7:15am, and with very little useage due to being at work (so only messaging, no camera use, music or browsing) and it's down to 74%. It is now 11:50am. I mean to go down that much in 4 hours with not much usage is pretty shocking.

I already find myself having to pre-empt my battery dying while out and about if I am expecting to use my phone a lot. I could put it in stamina mode but as I can't customise stamina mode to ensure certain things are kept running, I am reluctant to do so (no vibrate options for notifications and occasionally push notifications don't come through).

Is this normal for a phone that is advertised to have two days battery? Because at the moment my M2 has a better battery than this.

@LittleMissGiggles

Sorry to hear that your battery doesn't last as long as you expect.

When you notice that the display has been using more battery than expected, first check how long it's been on from Settings -> Battery -> Show battery usage and then tap Screen in the list. If it's been on more than you've used the phone, make sure that the phone is not placed in such a way that you may be waking it up by pressing its buttons.

The battery gets real capacity after a few charging.

Hi,

I have a battery drain issue too. It seems the Android OS takes all the battery, but I can't find why.

Here are some screenshots

I had a similar issue with a Xperia Z5 a few weeks ago (I sent it back to the shop) :

I did return the phone and got a new back. Hopefully it's
better otherwise I am really disappointed with Sonys advertising about the fantastic battery time. For now it seems unfortunately as bad but I will test it properly tomorrow. It seems that I am not the only one.

New screenshot. I unplugged my phone yesterday morning, and I didn't used it during almost 24 hours. The "Android OS" drained all the battery !!
