10.1.1.A.1.253 Rollout for Unlocked Phones

Hi,

Would anybody be able to confirm that they have been able to update their unlocked 6603 to the 10.1.1.A.1.253 update via the PC Companion or Update Service? I have an unlocked 6603 and have been checking everyday with both applications since the announcement of the update and both state that my device is up to date, even though it's still running the previous update

Is the rollout both country- AND provider-specific?

I have a C6603 SIM free and still on the old firmware, remember that this update as any other update you have to wait for it to be approved in your country.

I'm in the US, on a model that was setup for the UK market. So it seems that it is country-specific. Makes sense in order to manage demand on their file server.

I haven't flashed my phone to the latest firmware as I want to keep my phone rooted, something that its not possible with the latest firmware

Hm, ok, so then it's safe to assume that the UK has yet to get the update. I've seen other UK users (I assume they're in the UK from the content of their posts) on this forum mention that they have unlocked phones on the new update, so they must have manually updated.

Thanks for the links on how to update manually; I'm really hesitant to do so. I've hacked my phones in the past with varying degrees of success, but since this is my first smartphone and I paid quite a lot for it, I'm going to play it safe here.

it's quite safe to do, if something goes wrong just re-flash/restart the whole process again.

According to the thread in XDA, the only phones without the new 253 update are the German and UK unbranded phones.

Weird how all the branded phones got the update before the unbranded ones.

Also, none of the "available" ROMS contain the Sony Account Manager - meaning no Video Unlimited and no signing in via a Sony account for Socialife (whic doesn't work properly anyway but that's another story).

I had to reflash the previous unbranded ROM in order to get the manager back.

Perhaps this is why the UK (and possibly) Germany are late?

i'm from the UK with an unbranded xperia z and i'm still currently waiting for the new firmware as i'm still stuck on the old firmware and its starting to annoy me alot now as to why uk branded phones have already recieved the update but i really don't wanna flash my phone to the newest firmware
