WHICH end is up - USB Cable....

the USB cable for the XperiaXA1 phone has a sloped side to the end that plugs into the phone.

the slot in the phone for the cable to fit into does not show a sloped side....which end is literally "up"...the rounded side or the flat side?????  with the phone screen facing out ....how do you properly insert the cable into the phone.....is the domed side up or the flat side.....

Welcome to the community! 

The handset you have, the Xperia XA1 , uses a USB C cable.

The cable you have described sounds like a micro USB cable, not a USB C cable. If that is the case, it won't fit in the device. 

Did you receive this cable with the device when you purchased it?

Thanks for responding.

Yes, this cable was in the box when I purchased the phone (new - phone store). 

It does fit in the device...both ends do but neither fit as easily as other devices I have that

use this type cable.  Googled this before I posted and didn't find an answer but found that a number

of people had damaged the port with the cable.

Would you be able to post a picture of the charging port on your phone and the cable you have received?

I would just like to clarify the cable is definitely the right one for your handset
